Princess Eugenie is going to be a mom for a second time. The 32-year-old British royal, who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, as well as the niece of King Charles III, announced the happy news on Tuesday in a touching Instagram post. In just a few hours, the post has been liked by thousands of fans, and the news has made headlines all over the world.
The sweet snapshot was taken by Eugenie's husband, Jack Brooksbank, 36
In it, the couple's firstborn son, August, who will be 2 next month, is seen wrapping his arms around his mother's legs and sweetly kissing her growing belly.
"We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer," Eugenie captioned the post, which now has well over 180,000 likes.
Thousands of well-wishers have since flooded the comments section
"What wonderful news!" wrote one fan. "And as for this pic … It’s everything."
"Amazing news!" added someone else, who wished the princess a "healthy second/third trimester."
"I‘m sure August will be a wonderful big brother," another person declared.
But among the many congratulations, one comment stood out above the rest
It came from Eugenie's "mum," Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who chimed in with just two words and a heart emoji: "Granny heaven!"
Ferguson (better known as "Fergie") is also the proud grandma to Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, who was born in September 2021 to Eugenie's older sister, Princess Beatrice, 34.
Now it looks like Baby Sienna will have a new little cousin to play with very soon!
Eugenie and Brooksbank tied the knot on October 12, 2018
The pair was married in a lavish ceremony inside St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle — the same location where Prince Harry famously married Meghan Markle earlier that spring.
By mid-2020, the couple was expecting their first child, and in early February of 2021, they welcomed August Philip Hawke Brooksbank into the world.
"Thank you for so many wonderful messages," the princess wrote in an Instagram post on February 20, 2021. "Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you."
It's been said that Princess Eugenie has a "down to earth" approach to parenting
In fact, her friend singer Ellie Goulding once told The Telegraph that she looked up to the princess's parenting style, and appreciated all the "excellent advice" Eugenie gave her while she was pregnant with her own first child in 2021.
According to the singer, Eugenie was open and honest with her about all things pregnancy-related, and gave her plenty of insider tips, from "where to find the best pregnancy pillows to [how to] get a good night's sleep."
"She's been a great friend throughout this," Goulding shared. "We've talked a lot about pregnancy, and she's been inspirational because she just takes everything in her stride."
Now that she's on to Baby No. 2, Eugenie certainly knows the ropes
And, according to an official statement from Buckingham Palace, the entire royal family is super excited about the new arrival.
"The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother," the Palace said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The Duchess of York also followed up the news with a post of her own, which shows little August in a rain jacket, happily stomping through puddles.
"You will [soon] be sharing puddles, Augie!" the proud grandmother wrote. "Superb news … So deeply grateful."
