Mom ‘Traumatized’ After Fatal Shooting Breaks Out at Her Daughter’s Burial Services

A mom says she is traumatized after a man was killed and another person was injured during a burial service for her daughter in Maryland.

“I’m so traumatized that this happened at my daughter’s burial site. I didn’t even get to lay her down, even to put her in the ground, and another incident happened. This is so traumatizing to me, my children, my whole family. It’s trauma after trauma,” she said, according to NBC Washington.

The funeral home owner is facing murder charges after a man serving as a pallbearer was killed during the shooting, according to NBC News.

The news outlet reports that Ronald Steven Banks was killed during services at Washington National Cemetery on Tuesday. A woman was also injured during the shooting, which took place following the funeral services of 10-year-old Arianna Davis, who was fatally shot on Mother's Day.

Wilson Chavis allegedly confronted two people affiliated with another funeral home right before the burial services.

According to the local police department, people at the funeral "became upset with Chavis and confronted him over his behavior." Chavis was taken into custody shortly after fleeing the scene.

The 10-year-old's mom said Banks was a close friend of the family and had intervened when Chavis became upset. She added that the argument between the group had "nothing to do with me and my family" and that she didn't even get to see her daughter's casket lowered into the ground.
