A mom on social media is sparking major debate among the mom community. Carlie Mary Butler claimed in an Instagram video that the color of a mom's SUV determines if she's a "hot mess" or someone who is put-together. According to Carlie, moms who drive black SUVs are the ones who can't seem to get it together, while moms who drive white SUVs have everything together.

"So I’ve heard this mom-trend going around that’s basically like, white SUV mom is put-together; she’s on top of it. But a black SUV mom is a hot mess express," Carlie says at the beginning of the now-viral video. "This is a shout-out to all the black SUV moms: That’s us, that’s me. We’re in this together. If we’re going to be labeled the hot mess express – let’s own it."
In Carlie's eyes, her comments on the moms who drive white SUVs are not a "diss" but rather a compliment. "I bet the white SUV moms wear JCrew; they’ve already done their taxes, and they for sure make their own sourdough. White SUV moms have a calendar, and it’s color-coordinated," she observed. "This is a ‘Hey, we’re taking notes from you; you have it together. I wanna be more like you.’"
Carlie then goes on to demonstrate some of the things that make her the messy black SUV mom she is. "Moms with white SUVs are probably never late to pick up their kids from school or drop them off," she says before yelling to her kids to not tell their teacher she was listening to rap in the car. "Don't say any of the words I would say!" she jokes. The video ends with her and her kids dancing to Ludacris' song "Get Back."
"I drive a white SUV, but CLEARLY should trade it in for a black one ," one mom commented.
"White SUV driver here who wears JCrew, has filed my taxes, and has a color coordinated calendar but all my bread comes from the store and it’s alt rock only playing in the car (I’m lying, it’s the f’ing Wiggles on 24/7)," another mom shared.
"I have a completely blacked out suv and listen to my music like I’m at a rave. I also am the single mom of 5 so…stereotypes might be true. I am here for it," someone else said.
"Black SUV mom, always late, filed an extension, they know my voice at the Starbucks speaker and they start bagging my usual at the drive thru liquor barn when they see me turning in. " another added.
