As parents, we're the only ones who truly know that we're making the right decisions for our children. But sometimes, parents make decisions for their kids that will definitely make others question the reasoning behind their choice.
One mom on Instagram had social media users scratching their heads after she shared that she doesn't have a birth certificate for her oldest child, and doesn't plan on getting one for the child she is pregnant with either.

It is a surprising choice to make
The mom, who uses the Instagram handle @ministerlalieashaeris, has admitted in multiple posts on her account that she didn't get her oldest child a birth certificate, instead opting to create her own.
She also shared that when she gives birth to her second child, she will do the same thing. In one video, she lists creating private birth documents as a way she is "breaking generational curses."
She compared a birth certificate to a car registration
She created another video to answer a question posed in one of her post's comments: "How do I show proof of birth to get like insurance and stuff?"
According to her video, her self-created private documents are enough to register a child for things like a passport, insurance, and enrolling them in school.
"When I opted out of the birthing certificate, I decided to make sure the United States Corporation had no Jurisdiction over my baby! And I’ll be doing the same for my second baby! When you understand the business, you know registration is not mandatory or required, and that’s what a BC does to a child; you are essentially registering them like a car!" she wrote in the post's caption.
When the video started to spread, people went wild
When X (formerly Twitter) user @omgitstamz shared a screenshot of the video and caption on her account, people had big feelings and didn't hesitate to share them.
"Omfg, why do they need to add unnecessary problems for their children? Like those kids can't even get a legal job. " one person replied.
"How is this not child abuse? Gateway to no formal schooling, no bank accounts, no drivers license, no passport, no SSN, NO JOBS," another wrote.
"Jesus Christ I thought I was a terrible mom," someone said.

A lot of people cited the sovereign citizen movement
According to a document on sovereign citizens by the UNC School of Government, "'Sovereign citizen' is a catchall phrase referring to a variety of anti-government individuals and groups who share some common beliefs and behaviors."
After sharing some groups affiliated with the movement, they continued saying, "whether tied to an organization or not, adhere to a view that the existing American governmental structure, including the courts and law enforcement, is illegitimate and that they, the sovereign citizens, retain an individual common law identity exempting them from the authority of those fraudulent government institutions."
People are dragging the mom for her choices
Many X users are dragging the mom for not wanting to give her children birth certificates while also sharing all of her thoughts on social media.
"She's a big time scammer lol tells ppl to sign up to become a boss mommy & does absolutely nothing to help mothers but then guilt trips them into spending on her bc "u have to invest in urself". it's very bad on that side lol," one person wrote.
"These ppl piss me off because these ppl will be putting their whole f—in life on social media but won’t get their kid a BIRTH CERTIFICATE," someone else pointed out.
"This same woman has an online business and documents her every move online including her entire pregnancy. Very unserious," someone else said.
