Mom Goes Viral for Leaving Babysitter a Chore List To Make Extra Cash

If you had the opportunity to outsource some of your pesky household chores to your babysitter, would you? One mom in Missouri is going viral for just that. In a TikTok video, Katrina Ivan, a science teacher, shared the optional list of chores she left for her teenaged babysitter.

The babysitter didn't have to do anything if she didn't want to

"You are more than welcome to hang out and watch TV all night, but if you want to make some extra $, these jobs are up for grabs," Ivan wrote in the note that she left for the sitter, who is a high school senior. Her son Ryker was already asleep when the sitter arrived.

She left a good variety of chores

Each of the chores on Ivan's list had a dollar value. For $10, she could organize toys, clean all the mirrors, or clean the silverware drawer. For $15, she could scrub and reorganize the family's refrigerator.

"She was like, ‘Heck ya!' and got to work right away," Ivan told Today.com. "I left all the supplies out for her so she didn't have to feel weird hunting around for things."

Many people commended the mom for her choice

The comments were largely positive, with people applauding Ivan's move.

"This is a great idea!! Sometimes it’s boring to just to sit and watch tv, this makes time go by quicker and sometimes it’s things I would do to help," one comment read.

"I think this is great. especially your saying pick and choose if you want to do some or all or none. I would have loved the list to know how to help," someone shared.

"As a babysitter that usually just cleans anyways bc i can’t sit still, i’d appreciate the thought and compensation!" a third person chimed in.

She clearly doesn't take the help for granted

Although some commenters balked at some of the prices, saying they were too low, Ivan called the cost of living in her area "pretty cheap" but was open to suggestions for fairer pricing.

"Outsourcing is the answer," Ivan told Today.com. "The next time (she) came to babysit, she did everything on the list. And Super Bowl weekend she’s going to help me bag up my son’s old clothes for donation."
