Mom Goes Viral for Breastfeeding Her Daughter While DJing at a Music Festival

Christie revealed that she's brought her daughter to more than 70 of her DJ gigs so that she can breastfeed her.

"I breastfeed onstage because it’s after her bedtime, and the only way she goes to sleep is by nursing," Christie shared, as reported by Page Six. She added, "It’s just how I am in terms of my parenting style; she has a lot of close contact with me."

Christie went viral after sharing a video of herself breastfeeding at Oregon's Spirit Weavers Gathering.

She puts her daughter on her breast to feed her just as the beat drops and still manages to keep the crowd engaged and dancing, even though she's only using one hand to DJ.

Because she has one hand supporting her daughter and the other to DJ, she has to put her leg up on her DJ table for balance and to better support her daughter.

"To be received by everyone cheering made me cry — it is so hard to be a woman in music in the music industry, let alone a mother," she said. "I’m just trying to get through every moment as a new mom and a DJ and pursue my career and doing what I love."

She explained that she got into DJing because she not only loves music but also making people dance. "Sharing music onstage" makes her the happiest, she says.

By sharing her story and posting videos of herself breastfeeding and working, she is hoping to break barriers and de-stigmatize parts of motherhood and how different mothers choose to parent.

"Even though it’s novel and an anomaly, it still made me think we are ready to embrace us mothers doing our thing, which is so powerful for moms," she said.
