A mother of two was killed after losing control of her SUV on a Houston freeway early Thursday morning. Inside the car at the time of the crash were two children, a toddler and a 12-year-old, according to ABC 13 Houston.
The mom was ejected from the driver seat and run over by the car. Police said the toddler was also ejected from the car and sustained road rash but is expected to be OK.
The mom also hit two traffic signs before being thrown from the car.
Officials said the mom and the two children were not secured by a seatbelt or a child safety seat at the time of the crash. No other cars were involved in the crash, and officials have not determined what caused her to lose control of the SUV.
The local outlet also reported other unrelated crashes in the Houston area. A car with two adults and a child inside was involved in a drunk-driving crash Wednesday night.
The two adults died at the scene, and the child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
