Kids Scream for Help on 911 Call While Their Mom Allegedly Held 2-Year-Old Under Water

According to Michigan authorities, kids could be heard screaming for help in the background of a recent 911 call by a 15-year-old girl.

The Albion Department of Public Safety posted about the situation on their Facebook page.

"When officers arrived, they heard commotion from behind a locked door in the residence," they said.

The quick reaction of an officer saved a life

Upon entering the house, an officer kicked down the locked door and found a 35-year-old woman holding a 2-year-old under water in the bathtub. That same officer quickly took the child away from the woman and began administering CPR in another room.

"After giving a few quick breaths, the child coughed up water and began breathing on her own," they wrote.

The woman was detained.

The two younger children were both affected

After investigating further, authorities concluded that the woman was the child's mother, as well as the mother of the three other kids in the home: the 15-year-old girl who called 911, and an 8-year-old and a 4-year-old boy.

In addition to ingesting water, the 2-year-old girl had two stab wounds to her throat and chest. The 4-year-old also had cuts.

"It is also believed both the 2-year-old and 4-year-old had possibly ingested some cleaning fluid," authorities said.

The younger children are getting help

According to the post, the two younger kids were taken to a hospital 20 miles away in Jackson, Michigan, to be treated. Later, they were flown to Ann Arbor for additional treatment. As of now, they are both being listed in stable condition.

It does not appear that the two older children suffered any injuries.

As for the mother, she was "taken into custody and transported to the hospital as she may have also ingested cleaning fluid."

The officers are being praised

In the Facebook post, Chief Scott Kipp praised both ADPS Lt. Phipps and Deputy Winder of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department for their roles in the rescue of the kids.

"Their quick response and decisive actions helped to save the life of the 2-year-old child."
