Every family deserves feel to feel safe, secure, and comfortable in their home. A home is so much more than just the house you live in — it’s about family, love, and making memories together each day. And yet, there are so many deserving families whose homes are not meeting their needs. ADT believes that everyone deserves to feel safe, which is why they teamed up with The Scott Brothers to give one deserving family a $250,000 home makeover!
The contest:

In February, ADT launched a nationwide contest with the goal of finding a deserving family to win a life-changing prize. The “Pass the Protection” contest asked families, “What do you want to protect?” — over 11,500 people applied, and after months of poring over the applications, ADT finally found their winners: the Moffitt family.
Meet the Moffitts:

Jeff and Amber Moffitt had three children of their own — Briar (14), Skyler (12), and Jedy (10) — before they decided to become foster parents. Jeff and Amber started fostering Wilis (8) and Kaly (4), and they absolutely fell in love with the brother and sister duo. They knew Wilis and Kaly belonged in their family, so they adopted them out of foster care. When Wilis and Kaly’s biological sibling was born, Jeff and Amber jumped at the chance to welcome another member to their family. Preston (3) is the newest addition to the Moffitt family. The two youngest kids have special needs, which means they have regular speech and physical therapy visits in their home.
The Moffitts’ submission:

In their contest submission, the Moffitt family wrote:
“This past year our family had to evacuate our home and leave town to escape the largest earthquakes to hit Southern California in two decades. Our town was the epicenter of these quakes. We worried about our home and property while we were away and wished we had a smart security system at the time. We are a large family of 8. Our youngest 3 are adopted siblings we adopted through foster care. The two youngest have a rare genetic syndrome and require 24/7 protective supervision. An ADT smart home security system could do so much more for our family than just keeping us safe from intruders; it could help us monitor and meet the safety needs of our special needs children.”
The prize:
The Moffitt family won a $250,000 home makeover from ADT designed by the Scott Brothers, a professionally installed ADT smart home security system, and three years of 24/7 professional monitoring!
Home renovation plans:

With their $250,000 budget, Jonathan and Drew have big plans in mind. They’re going to focus their efforts on a few main areas of the home: the kitchen and the carport. The tiny kitchen will be expanded to make room for the family to enjoy the “heart” of the home, and the carport will be converted into a dedicated physical therapy room. Once the carport renovation is completed, all the physical therapy equipment will be moved from the living room, giving the family their living space back. The brothers will also make sure to make the entire home more accessible for the family, in addition to prioritizing flow and functionality.
When it comes to home security, the Moffitts are about to get a huge upgrade. ADT will be installing all the latest security technology from ADT, including the touchscreen Command panel, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and even flood detectors. They are also getting all kinds of smart home technology with their system, including a video doorbell, exterior cameras (to keep track of all the kids as they play outside), smart lights, and smart thermostats. The ADT Control app will allow the Moffitts to check in on their home whenever they want — whether they’re in a different room or in a different country.
The Moffitts are such an incredibly giving family, and they deserve to have a home that meets their needs and helps keep their family safe.
