"BEING A FATHER IS NOT JUST BUYING YOUR KIDS THE MATERIAL THINGS THAT THEY WANT BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BE THERE FOR THEM WHEN IT MATTERS THE MOST. AND EVEN IF I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR IN THE TRAFFIC AND WALK A FEW MILES LIKE I DID TO BE THERE TO SEE MY BABY GIRL GRADUATE 5TH GRADE THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM DOING MY BABY “ALAYAH” GOING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL ⚡️ ," Alex captioned the Instagram post.

Alex's video got thousands of likes and hundreds of comments. It was picked up by The Shade Room, where Alex left a few more details in a comment.

"THIS MOMENT WAS A MOMENT FOR ME N MY DAUGHTER TO SHARE EVEN IF I MISSED HER NAME BEING CALLED SHE WUDV KNOWN HER DAD DIDNT JUST SIT THERE BUT TRIED HIS VERY BEST NOT TO MISS IT. BUT THE FATHER IN ME WUDNT LET ME SIT THERE AND ALLOW ME TO MISS IT FOR NOTHING. SO ME AND MY OLDEST DAUGHTER GOT OUT THE CAR AND WALKED 30MIN IN THE HOTLANTA SUN . AS WE WALKING IN THE SCHOOL HER NAME WAS NEXT TO BE CALLED. SEEING THAT SMILE ON HER FACE WAS EVERYTHING FOR ME AND SOMETHING WE BOTH NEEDED. "
