February 19 – March 20

George Washington was born February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, and became the first-ever president of the United States of America on April 30, 1789. His growing resistence to British rule landed him the position of commander in chief of the Continental Army that fought in the American Revolution for six long years. Realizing that the Articles of Confederation no longer served the nation, he pushed for a new Constitution, which, once ratified, gained him the respect of his peers and nomination as the nation's first official leader.
