Is your whiskey sour too sweet from those store-bought mixes? Try this recipe to control the sugar content a bit.
Ingredients
Cocktail
3 ounces whiskey
4 ounces sour mix
Ice
2 orange wedges and cherry
Sour Mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh citrus juice (like 4 limes, 1 meyer lemon and 3 seville oranges)
Directions

To make the sour mix, in a medium saucepan over low heat, add all sour mix ingredients.

Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cook for 5 minutes.

Remove from the heat and let cool. Strain to remove any pulp.

Pour into a sterile bottom. Keep in fridge until ready to use. Makes almost 2 cups.

For the cocktails, add all ingredients except for the orange wedge and cherry into a cocktail shaker in the order listed.

Shake. Pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice.

Garnish with the orange peel and cherry. Serve. Drink.
