Whiskey Sour

Is your whiskey sour too sweet from those store-bought mixes? Try this recipe to control the sugar content a bit.

Ingredients

Cocktail

3 ounces whiskey

4 ounces sour mix

Ice

2 orange wedges and cherry

Sour Mix

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup water

1 cup fresh citrus juice (like 4 limes, 1 meyer lemon and 3 seville oranges)

Directions

  1. To make the sour mix, in a medium saucepan over low heat, add all sour mix ingredients.

  2. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cook for 5 minutes.

  3. Remove from the heat and let cool. Strain to remove any pulp.

  4. Pour into a sterile bottom. Keep in fridge until ready to use. Makes almost 2 cups.

  5. For the cocktails, add all ingredients except for the orange wedge and cherry into a cocktail shaker in the order listed.

  6. Shake. Pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice.

  7. Garnish with the orange peel and cherry. Serve. Drink.
