We should all be so lucky to have cool grandparents to celebrate this National Grandparents Day. Like beauty, cool is in the eye of the beholder, but there are a few universal traits that mean Nana and Pop Pop are still pretty amazing.

You Love Their Style
Cool grandparents have great style, either in fashion, tastes in movies or where they like to eat. Cool grandparents know who they are and don't apologize for it. And they shouldn't—because now that's how you are, too.
They Love Your Style
Cool grandparents love seeing the world through your eyes and pretty much think you can do no wrong. They especially love and embrace you for who you are, and rave about your style to their best buds.
They Laugh
Life's not always easy when you get older, but there's nothing like Grams' loud laugh. She's not apologizing for it. She lets it loose often. Grams sees life for what it is and finds the humor in all of it.
They're Not Scared of Aging
We should all be so lucky to live a long life! So why try hiding the years? Cool grandparents DGAF about age. It doesn't scare them, because they're too busy living life.
They're Still Active
There's no prescribed age at which people are required to stop having fun. Cool grandparents know that. They still like to do the things they always did—the more adventuresome the better. And they always, always ask if you want to go along. Even if you always say no. (But why in the world are you saying no to Grammy and Grampy?)
They Still Love a Party
They might go to bed incredibly early, they might have cut way back on how much (or whether) they drink. But cool grandparents still love a party. They love gathering with family and friends, workmates and neighbors, to catch up, cut loose and have fun.
They Still Slip You Cash
When you were younger, your parents told them, "no sugar, no toys, no TV." They gave it all to you anyway. Now that you're older and get your own doughnuts, they still like getting past the gatekeepers by slipping you a little cash. Every. Single. Time.
They Like to Try Anything
Cool grandparents are up for anything! They like to learn, they like to have fun, they like to take a little risk now and then. And they want you to do it, too. Maybe you recently found out that your cool grandfather is taking yoga, while Grandma is at her surfing lesson.
They Do What They Love
Best of all, you can still see the young man and woman in your cool grandparents. They still flirt (not always just with each other!), they like to look good. They wink and drop innuendo when they're telling stories. They're still the sexy, fun-loving people they were in the years and decades before you came into the world. How cool is that?
