A NICU nurse and mom to two, Caryn offers an expertise and reassuring voice in the midst of the chaos that is parenting.
Favorite post: Caryn’s post on “Overcoming Fear” during her second pregnancy was so incredibly relatable to all of us mamas who have wondered “what if.” At the same time, words from this nurse who knows make everything feel OK.

The Girl Who

Name: Monica Bielanko, The Girl Who
Started: 2005
What we love: Monica’s personal blog is raw, confessional and powerful. She writes about anything and everything with such momentum — being a recovering Mormon, parenting, insecurity, love, separation — that it’s hard not to get invested in her writing. The mom of three also contributes to Babble, MamaPop, mom.me and The Huffington Post.
Favorite post: Monica shares why she chose the home birth route when welcoming Charlie into the world.
Design Mom

Name: Gabrielle Blair, Design Mom

What we love: Whether we’re peeking into Gabrielle’s life in Oakland (formerly the French countryside) or enjoying her curated posts of beautiful design, this is one mom who knows how to live. A mom to 6, Gabrielle lives her life deliberately and pushes the boundaries, such as moving her family to France to see if they could actually live anywhere. Inspiring, jealousy-inducing, and just lovely, you can spend hours on Gabrielle’s website and Pinterest boards.

From documenting daily family life to adorable DIY ideas to the ups and downs of their international adoption journey to meet their youngest daughter, this is someone who you immediately feel like you’ve known forever. And let’s not even get started on her amazing house and homemade chicken coop. Her gorgeous photography doesn’t hurt, either.
Favorite post: In “Just Rock It,” Ashley Ann opens up about what it’s like going out into the world with her youngest adoptive daughter.
Single Infertile Female

Name: Leah Campbell, Single Infertile Female
Started: 2009
What we love: Leah’s blog began as a journey through infertility, the painful treatments and her loss of hope. SIF took a surprising turn in 2013 when a baby found her way into Leah’s life in the most unexpected and amazing way. Now Leah’s journey as a single mom of her daughter she adopted through unconventional means is chronicled in SIF. From the beautiful to the mundane that is raising a baby, to talking about the joys and challenges of her open adoption, as well as her life in Alaska as a single gal, Leah’s journey is unique and relatable all at the same time.
Favorite post: In Leah’s “Letters to My Daughter” series you feel her gratefulness in every second of being her little girl’s mama. The letter on her daughter’s first birthday is especially beautiful as she acknowledges “Mama Angel” and all the others that made this journey possible.

The mom of two is a family mental health advocate and launched the Go-To Mom web series, where she shares her expertise as a licensed family and child therapist. She is also the founding partner of MomPulse.TV, an inspirational author, Social Marketing Director for Early Childhood Mental Health Campaign and, through her program The Growing Ground for Kids, she gives back to organizations that help abused and traumatized children.

What we love: If you’re a mom in L.A., you can’t do much better than landing on Yvonne and Sarah’s blog when you need information on, well, everything! Her imaginative crafts and projects—some of which are educational—and recipes are some of the main reasons we come back frequently.
Favorite post: This dulce de leche trifle recipe with fresh berries, whipped cream and broken meringue cookies will blow your mind. If you love home improvement projects, this DIY bird bath is both lovely and easy to do. We also love these Spanish dichos that she designed that we’ve seen all over Pinterest.
Rockstar Diaries

Name: Naomi Davis, Love Taza
Started: 2007
What we love: You know the story: Hip girl meets hip boy, they get married and start a blog about their hip life in NYC. Blog becomes huge. They move to DC, have a couple hip kids and move back to Manhattan. And we get to watch the entire journey unfold complete with drool-worthy photographs, funny anecdotes and aspirational relationship advice. We’re sure all her fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Baby #3 later this year.

What we Love: Chelsea is that hilarious mom friend we all wish we had. Whether she’s teaching us how to make black coffee that actually tastes good or chronicling the first-time home buyer process, Chelsea always tells it like it is with an awesome sense of humor we just can’t get enough of.
Favorite Post: We love that in addition to writing about everyday family life, travels and gluten-free recipes, Chelsea takes time to tackle common parenting dilemmas like how to teach your children charity.
Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures

Name: Amber Dusick, Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures
Started: 2011
What we love: Amber’s blog stands apart from many parenting blogs, mainly because of her crudely (but hilariously) drawn pictures. Instead of photographing her parenting adventures with her husband and two boys (and two black cats), she’s been illustrating them. We can’t help but chuckle at the intermix of illustrations that read like comics and the tongue-in-cheek writing that connect the illustrations. It’s so good that Amber channeled her talent into a book too!
Favorite post: In a pretty accurate and relatable post, Amber writes and illustrates how an intestinal virus spread through her family. We’re sure every mom out there who reads this is nodding her head in complete agreement.
Modern Mami

Name: Melanie Edwards, Modern Mami
Started: 2006
What we love: This mom of two tackles parenting, Latino culture (paying homage to her Puerto Rican heritage), raising bilingual, multicultural kids, concerns of working moms and work-life balance on her award-winning blog. Recipes and ideas for kids activities help round out the site with resources for making these things easier for working moms, and she runs a work-life balance support group on Facebook, too.
Favorite post: Having the kids home all summer can be tough, but we love Melanie’s list of 60+ ideas for keeping kids busy this summer.
The Happiest Home

What we love: Meagan’s blog is like a warm, open home, filled with positivity and joy. The mom of five hopes to use her blog as a way to help moms nurture themselves, and to encourage us to find time for our own personal goals and growth. Whether it’s about the home, the family, the kitchen, work or mom herself, Meagan offers inspiring posts and ideas to make life feel a little less overwhelming.
Favorite post: In one of her weekly reflections, Meagan shares some advice inspired by the late Maya Angelou: People will never forget how you made them feel.
Greeblehaus

Name: Aimee Giese, Greeblehaus
Started: 2005 as Greeblemonkey, 2014 as Greeblehaus
What we love: Aimee is the cool mom (even if she describes herself as a geek) who incorporates her son into her life in amazing and fun ways. As a photographer, designer and web developer, her blog is visually arresting as well as fun to read. A regular concert goer and photographer of said concerts, if you live in Denver you can count on staying connected to the music scene via Aimee’s comprehensive concert calendar. Rock on.
Favorite post: An exploration of that awkward tween to teen shift as framed by school dance anxiety. You’ll feel excruciatingly uncomfortable just reading it. In a good way.
Cup of Jo

Name: Joanna Goddard, Cup of Jo
Started: 2007
What we love: Joanna has a way of creating aspirational content while keeping things real. Born in Paris, raised in France, England and Michigan, Joanna is a former publishing professional and mom to two in New York City. Of course with all of these life experiences, Joanna’s blog is a true, if somewhat ideal, slice of (mom) life. While the wedding and travel sections will have you dreaming and setting up vacation funds; her recipes, house tours and super fun etiquette lessons are incredibly pinnable, yet doable.
Favorite post: Removing the nursing curtain, Joanna’s post on all things boobs while breastfeeding is reassuring, while entertaining for those of us who have been in the breastfeeding trenches.
Bad Sandy

Name: Meredith Gordon, Bad Sandy
Started: 2011
What we love: Bad Sandy is a little bit of sweet and a little bit of sass … or maybe a lot of sass. Meredith has a voice and inner snark that’ll keep you hooked, but most importantly, she’s honest. Whether it’s about surviving summer break or L.A.’s 10-minute rainstorm, the mom of two has an opinion about it, and it’s worth reading.
Favorite post: Meredith is confronted by a woman when her 2-year-old throws a tantrum at a coffee shop. Read her humorous account: "I’m Tired of Being Nice."
Mom 101

Name: Liz Gumbinner, Mom 101
Started: 2006
What we love: Liz tells it like it is. She’s figuring out the parenting life with us all, and she’s not afraid to admit it. Better yet, the mom of two does it with a great sense of humor and sanity. If you love her writing style, you’ll also enjoy two other sites she co-publishes: Cool Mom Picks and Cool Mom Tech.
Favorite post: Her post “Parents: You’re all doing it wrong” speaks truth to the millionth power.

Whether she’s writing about her daughter with Down’s Syndrome or documenting a family vacation, Hampton’s gorgeous photographs paired with equally beautiful words is a (web)page turner.
Favorite post: Her beautifully honest birth story about her second daughter, Nella, will make you laugh, cry and fall in love with Kelle all over again.
A Lovely Lark

Name: Lauren Hufnagl, A Lovely Lark

What we love: This is one of those blogs you just can’t stop scrolling through. As a Pennsylvania mom of two adorable girls, Lauren Hufnagl has created a feast for the eyes. Whether it’s instructions (and lovely photos) for a DIY water table (genius!), or following her home renovation journey or thoughts on the oh-so-ubiquitous mom guilt, Lauren's thoughts on every topic are non-stop entertainment.
Favorite post: “Spring Fling” curates ideas for a bright and happy nursery that we just wish we had an excuse to replicate.
HapaMama

Name: Grace Hwang Lynch, HapaMama
Started: 2008
What we love: Through HapaMama, Grace creates a beautiful space for her and others to share in the experiences of bridging immigrant and mainstream cultures. Her strong journalism background really strengthens the quality of her blog, and we are always impressed by the diversity of her content. She addresses core issues that face Asian Americans and mixed-race identities through news updates and blog posts in areas of language, food, holidays and her own family parenting experiences.
Favorite post: Grace brings up a thought-provoking question about raising racially aware children vs. culturally aware children.

Mommy Niri

Name: Nirasha Jaganath, Mommy Niri
Started: 2008
What we love: We admire Niri for using her voice and influence in support of important social causes. After becoming a mom, she started the blog as a bet with her husband and initially used it more like a diary. But since then, she has helped further several philanthropic projects, including Rwanda Path2Peace, Heart 4 Haiti, building playgrounds with Kaboom, the End Child Hunger campaign, among others. In 2010, she launched Mommy Niri Cares. You can also read her husband’s parenting point of view in The Papa Post!

Her site teaches young moms how to cook, deal with finances, make healthy choices for their families and more. She’s also an author and the founder of The Young Mom Summit.
Favorite post: Tara’s no-nonsense, totally honest, real-talk approach to personal finance as a young mom is refreshing. She’s shared useful advice on how to rebuild an emergency fund, how to stay on a budget, how to knock out debt with discipline, and apps that help you grocery shop on a budget.
Mama Knows It All

Name: Brandi Jeter, Mama Knows It All
Started: 2010
What we love: Brandi’s refreshingly honest about not only the trials and tribulations of her single parenthood turned newlywed life, but also about the pure love she feels for her daughter Ayva, and new husband, Terrance. Sure she’s got the crafts, recipes, travel and gift advice of lots of mom blogs, but Brandi offers up a section on marriage that is useful, as well as the real deal.
Favorite post: “Preschool Is Ending, Hold Me” is a post we can all feel, even if we just read the headline. As a mom to a growing little girl, Brandi is experiencing ALL of the anxiety that comes when your baby starts school. We get it, Brandi. We get it.
Jolly Mom

Name: Piera Jolly, Jolly Mom
Started: 2008
What we love: Travel, recipes, printables — oh my! This Atlanta mama has it all on her well-organized and beautiful blog. While Piera admits to “not always being jolly” she certainly provides the tools for a well-lived life on her all-in-one blog.

HispanaGlobal is available in both English and Spanish, and provides beauty and fashion, family and lifestyle, tech, travel, food and more!
Favorite post: Although Jeannette covers the fun stuff such as beauty (check out her post with tips on how to look your best on HDTV and video), fashion, travel and food, she’s not afraid to get serious and share about her miscarriage, climbing out of depression and how to teach your kids to respect and appreciate different kinds of families.
The Bloggess

Name: Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess
Started: 2007
What we love: Warning: Once you start reading The Bloggess you will not be able to stop. This Texas mom to one daughter and wife to one-long suffering husband, Victor, owner of Beyoncé the metal chicken and an extended family of taxidermied animals, mostly veers away from “parenting” issues per se. But all moms (and non-moms) will get sucked into her hilarious tales of daily absurdity, coupled with real-life struggles with rheumatoid arthritis and depression.
Favorite post: The most epic post ever written on her site or elsewhere, is the series that begins with a takedown of an uninformed PR person and ends with Jenny getting a photo of Wil Wheaton collating paper.
Lyz Lenz

Name: Lyz Lenz
Started: 2007
What we love: Lyz started her blog as a literary endeavor, but as she explains it, “Then I got knocked up and actually started not wearing pants, and it was all downhill from there.” Her writing is fearless, hilarious and when it calls for it, poignant. She can talk about what the world would be like if men could breastfeed or what moms do when they’re alone; regardless of the topic, you’ll know it’s by Lyz.
Favorite post: In "How Did I Get Here?" Lyz reflects on her path from wanting to live alone in Manhattan as a magazine writer to being a mom of two, breastfeeding at a wedding. And she doesn’t regret it.

What we love: De Su Mamá (meaning “from your mother” in Spanish) is a beautiful look at multiracial families, the identity challenges that arise from it and how to build a legacy for your children so they have a secure vision of who they are and where they come from. Get your tissues ready for some of the personal letters to her daughter, such as this one about her struggle to adjust her mothering strategy as her girl grows up.

TeachMama

Name: Amy Mascott, TeachMama

What we love: A former English teacher, Amy is passionate about literacy and learning in everyday situations. While her own kids (9, 8 and 6) attend school outside the home, Amy works to fit in educational moments through play and other sneaky ways that kids will enjoy and not see as “work.” She’s created a network and resources to help all parents educate their children of all ages, as well as fun craft ideas, digital literacy and giving back.
Favorite post: TeachMama is a one-stop service on every parenting, educational topic you can imagine so one post won’t do it all. Start with "A Clear Focus" and learn how to utilize this incredible resource.

Started: 2008
What we love: Ashley, along with her (super tall) husband Aron, run this gorgeous blog that started out as a travel and lifestyle blog of their life in the Big Apple. Flash forward a few years, a move to the West Coast and two kids later, and Hither & Thither has become a bonafide modern family destination covering everything from lust-worthy travel destinations to homemade artisanal recipes to musings about parenthood. We especially love the stunning travelogues — many of which happen post-baby and have us itching to break out our passports.
Favorite post: A closet becomes a mini-nursery for Ashley’s son Hudson, and the results are amazing. A true inspiration for all parents in teeny-tiny spaces.
House of Prince

Name: Kim Tracy Prince, House of Prince

Mary Tyler Mom is worth reading for any parent, reminding us of the importance of each second we have with our children.

Momma's Gone City

Name: Jessica Shyba, Momma’s Gone City

What we love: You may know her as the mom behind the viral photos of napping duo Theo and Beau, her dog and toddler son, respectively. But apart from her crisp, beautiful photos, Jessica, who has moved from California to NYC and back again, is a great resource for moms with an urban heart and who love traveling.
Favorite post: In one of the first posts introducing Theo, when the 7-week-old puppy was adopted by Jessica’s family, we see the beginnings of what later becomes an integral part of Momma’s Gone City.
Scary Mommy

Name: Jill Smokler, Scary Mommy
Started: 2008
What we love: While Jill is the queen of lists chronicling imperfect parenting, she’s even better at rallying her community. When she received anonymous posts on her message boards from moms not being able to afford Thanksgiving, Jill sprang into action raising enough money to provide 400 families in need with a Thanksgiving dinner. This one-time action turned into a non-profit organization and in 2013 Scary Mommy Nation raised $165,000 for families in need.
Favorite post: Scary Mommy’s Pregnancy-By-Month calendar tells moms the real deal about the 9 months of growing that baby. Just be sure you want to know before you start clicking.

What we Love: Heather, together with her husband Mike, has lovingly crafted a blog that you can’t resist checking in on every day. They touch on everything from the loss of their first daughter Madeline and the consequent emotions of getting pregnant again to experiencing the torture that all parents of "Frozen"-obsessed children feel. The Sphors take us all on the ups and downs of the roller coaster we all call life, with an admirable grace and humor we all wish we possessed.
Favorite Post: All moms of little girls should read “Don’t Love Yourself Too Much” where Heather shares her concerns over how to encourage her daughter to be confident, but not come across vain … and decides to just let her be free to express her self-love.
Lady and the Blog

Outlaw Mama

Name: Christie Tate, Outlaw Mama
Started: 2012
What we love: Reading Christie’s writing feels like you’re reading a story — a story meant for you. She started Outlaw Mama after leaving the practice of the law and starting a new professional life. She wanted to round out the sharp edges of being a mama with the funny moments, like wiping her son’s boogers on her husband’s pillow when she’s mad at him for being out of town (her analogy, not ours). Christie’s posts are humorous and even lyrical, and her underlying parenting philosophy is one we can stand behind: Enjoy your children.
Favorite post: Christie shares how one of her first fights with her 4-year-old daughter unraveled and how they both took it.

They’re also the co-authors of the 2012 book “Bilingual Is Better: Two Latina Moms on How the Bilingual Parenting Revolution is Changing the Face of America,” a guide for the bilingual parenting movement. Although the award-winning blog is currently on hiatus, the site still hosts five years worth of recommendations and an active, vibrant community of nearly 80,000 bilingual parents on Facebook where new resources are constantly shared.

But more importantly, Kelly’s passion grows beyond her blog. Aside from being an assistant principal at a technology magnet school, she has also worked for BlogHer, co-hosted for the vlog BlackTalk and appeared on NPR’s “Tell Me More.”

What we Love: As a NYC mom of two girls, Ilana knows a thing or two about getting through parenthood with a kick-ass sense of humor intact. Seriously, when your inaugural post is titled “This Is What My Baby Looks Like When She Is Taking a Dump,” you know you’re in for a fun ride. From hosting hilarious caption contests to musings about the benefits of lazy parenting, Ilana dishes it all. And don’t forget to take a few minutes to check out the latest episode of “The Mommy Show” where Ilana invites famous guests over (everyone from Julianne Moore to Jerry Springer) to play with her kids while answering a few questions about their latest projects.
Favorite Post: “Porn For Moms With Toddlers” is a side-splitting riff on the popular “Porn for Moms” series of photographs.

What we love: Rebecca started Girl’s Gone Child when she gave birth to her first child (she now has four!) and has since built a devoted blog readership. She writes about love and family, style and music, food adventures and fun vacations — all accompanied by great photos of her family and narrated by a strong, talented storytelling voice. Her award-winning blog has been featured in several leading publications including The New York Times, Time magazine and NPR.
Favorite post: Through her powerful writing, Rebecca recollects moments with her son when he starts to find her intolerable. In “The Turn Around” she traces his actions to the play and draws parallels to her own relationship with her mom. Let’s just say, we couldn’t stop tearing up.
