Quit the Ill-Fit

It's time to visit the tailor! Ill-fitting clothes are an immediate indicator of a fashion dilettante. Every person is built differently, therefore, it makes sense that mass-produced garments don't fit everyone the same way. To get the most out of your clothes, make sure they fit and flatter you the way they should.
Simple Accessories

Unless you're Iris Apfel, less is often more in terms of accessorizing. Most of the time, wearing too many accessories ends up making your outfit look clunky and unpolished. Stick to two or three accessories and/or pieces of jewelry.
Pants Vs. Leggings

The leggings-as-pants phenomenon is one of the most divisive fashion arguments. Our suggestion? Try to avoid wearing leggings as pants all day, everyday. There are times, of course ,when leggings are more appropriate but for the rest of the time, stick with sleek skinny jeans, which are generally chicer and look less sloppy.
Seasonal Spending

Dropping a ton of money on an "it" or seasonal item is one of the most common sartorial mistakes women make. Shake this habit by spending your money on classic pieces that you'll wear again and again.
Instant Gratification

Are you getting that designer bag because you love it? Or because you want the world to know you have it? You'd be surprised by how many people do this! And if you happen to be one of those people, do your best to rid yourself of this habit.
Jean Scene

Jeans have a tendency to conform to the shape of the person wearing them. When they're washed, some of that shape is lost. So do your denim a favor and lay off the every-wear wash and opt for washing your jeans every other time.
Body Type

Aim to dress in a way that best suits your body. We're all guilty of following trends at one point or another but fads are tricky because they don't complement every body type. To avoid falling victim to unflattering trends, focus on dressing in a way that favors your own body. Not everyone should wear low-rise jeans.
Proportion Play

Balance is so important when it comes to looking put together. Tight should be paired with flowy. Feel like showing a little extra leg? Wear a little more on top. By taking proportions into consideration, you'll immediately go from démodé to trendsetter.
Keep 'Em Guessing

Sexy doesn't always mean showing a lot of skin. A long-sleeve mini dress with ankle boots is often much sexier than any flashy top or too-tight jeans. As is a great pair of heels paired with a sophisticated, curve-grazing pencil skirt. Style your clothes so that you're flaunting your body in a way that's both alluring and tasteful.
Eschew Heels

If you're having trouble walking in your heels to the point where they're slowing you down, it's time to break out the flats! Or at least opt for a smaller heel. Fumbling in heels can immediately make any person appear unprofessional. In other words, don't wear any shoes you wouldn't be able to run away in.
