Easy Living

It's almost summer, and the living should be easy. Why fuss with complicated, heavy makeup that's bound to melt in minutes when you could be enjoying the sunset with a glass of sangria?
When it comes to looking your best while hanging out with friends, networking with associates or clocking quality time with your spouse, let these helpful hints guide you through the tricky hot-weather makeup waters, and let the simplicity of the season be your beauty beacon.
Graduation Ceremony

Even though you're not wearing the cap and gown, you want to look good—which can be a challenge when you're sitting in the sun.
Use a matte primer, which absorbs excess moisture, before you apply foundation and/or blush. And, if you tend to get weepy, be sure to go with a waterproof mascara.
Hint: For quick and easy touch-ups, celeb makeup artist Chantal Moore recommends a multipurpose compact like Laura Mercier Foundation Powder, which "can be used wet or dry and helps to control oil production," she says.
To buy: Ulta Matte Primer, $18; CoverGirl LashBlast Water Resistant Mascara, $7; Laura Mercier, $40
Neighborhood Barbecue

You want to look pretty yet fresh-faced for a family affair like this, but since you'll probably be chasing after the kids, you need makeup that stays put. Apply a cream blush (creams stay in place longer than powders) in a universally flattering peach shade like Laura Mercier crème cheek color in canyon.
Go for a glossy, natural lip, with Clinique's Superbalm moisturizing gloss in apricot.
Hint: Keep hair under control by braiding it or, if it's sunny, wear a hat—it'll protect your skin and prevent your hair from blowing all over the place.
To buy: Laura Mercier, $24; Clinique, $15
Baby Shower

The look you want to go for here is pretty and simple. "Celebrate newborn beauty with a fresh, multidimensional baby-pink cheek," says Moore. "Layer and softly blend together a hot, bright pink blush with a soft pink highlighter. Cargo Blush in Catalina, then Amalfi, creates a youthful glow like no other," she says. Finish the look with a creamy lipstick or shimmery gloss in a pretty nude or pale pink shade that's not too heavy—and won't leave an icky mark on your Arnold Palmer glass.
Hair hint: Go with a no-fuss look, such as loose waves paired with a thin headband or ribbon.
To buy: Cargo, $29
Fancy Date Night

An elegant evening calls for a statement—both with your fashion choice and your makeup. What better way to make "come hither" eyes at your man than with bountiful, beautiful lashes?
"Just a few individual lashes placed at the outside edges of the eye make a huge impact while still looking natural and summery," says Moore.
Round out the look with a provocative lip. You don't have to go full-on vampy red to command attention. A berry shade works well, such as Jouer lipstick in Elizabeth or Simone. Just be sure to opt for a long-lasting formula that will stay put—no matter what shenanigans might ensue.
To buy: Ardell Lashes (short), $3; Jouer, $22
Outdoor Wedding

Even if you're not a member of the wedding party, you'll want to look lovely as the vows are exchanged—which can be a challenge when you're roasting in the sun. For flawless skin, Moore suggests Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30, which will help keep your skin protected from the sun and flawless in photos.
Hair hint: Opt for an updo. No sense in trying to control summertime frizz or fly-aways.
To buy: Clinique, $35

Company Picnic

Just because you're at an informal event doesn't mean you can chuck beauty decorum out the window—especially if there are muckety-mucks milling about. Keep your look casual yet professional by adding a pop of color to your cheeks, and opt for a natural eye that's enhanced by a sweep of bronze shadow (don't waste too much time on your eyes, since you'll probably be wearing sunglasses).
To complete the look, Moore suggests going with a long-wear, neutral mauve lipstick. "This way you won't have to keep touching up."
To buy: Tarte LipSurgence (Envy), $24
Date Night at Home

Just because you two aren't heading out for a night on the town, that shouldn't keep you from looking put together and appealing for your night in.
"For intimate evenings at home, you want your makeup to be soft and natural—especially your lips," says Moore. "Lips should be naturally refined, beautiful and kissable."
Tata Harper Be Adored Lip Treatment is an all-natural rose-tinted lip treatment that gives the appearance of fuller lips, and it won't come off while you eat, drink or … get merry.
To buy: Nieman Marcus, $28
Potluck/Game Night

For a kick-back occasion like this, you want the effect to be as if you hadn't tried to look great but somehow managed to anyway. Swipe on a simple strawberry colored lip gloss and a coat of mascara like Benefit's They're Real color, and you'll be good to go.
Want to even out your skin tone? Keep things low-maintenance by using a tinted moisturizer or BB cream. Try Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm, which will impart a fresh—and not overly made-up—glow to your game face.
Your Kid's Big Game

Even though it's your child who's in the spotlight, you have every right to preen and primp like a proud mama peacock—just don't get too done up. Keep makeup minimal: a dusting of bronzer along your cheekbones, forehead and nose (mimicking the areas the sun would naturally kiss your face); a coat of brown mascara; and a swipe of nude gloss (Lorac Lips With Benefits in Chuck is an MVP), and you'll be championship-ready, regardless of the final score.
To buy: Lorac, $18
