Easy Slow-Cooker Applesauce

RECIPE: Slow-Cooker Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 10 large apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a large slow cooker. Stir them a few times with a wooden spoon to distribute the spices.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and cook on high heat for about 4 hours. The apples will break down into a chunky applesauce.
  3. If you want an even smoother sauce you can puree it with a hand blender. Allow to cool until comfortable to touch before eating.

Freezing: To freeze the applesauce, place it in a plastic container, leaving 1-inch headspace at the top to allow for expansion.
