Ships Ahoy
You've got to love a porthole-style mirror in a small bathroom space to really make you feel as if you’re under the deck. This one just happens to have secret storage inside—bonus! Slap some childproof locks inside, and ahoy matey! Although the price might make you a little seasick, you can guarantee no one else on your block will have one of these.

Compact and Clean
Adding a piece from Duravit to your bathroom instantly gives it that spa feeling. Even their medicine cabinets are luxurious. The Multibox series feature mirrors on the interior as well as the exterior of the doors and a little cubby shelf underneath. The shelf is great because you can put kid items right in their reach, so they don't need to go hunting through the cabinet above. The rounded corners are also a nice, kid-friendly touch. Add some childproofing latches, and you're good to go!

Write It Down
Check out this clever (and inexpensive) idea from interior designer and blogger Jenna Burger: a chalkboard medicine cabinet. Hide and Seek
Designers Céline Merhand and Anaïs Morel of Les M Design Studio have created a clever version of a traditional medicine cabinet. The storage, which can be used for just about anything, is hidden in the sides—and more difficult for children to get into. The hook bar extends so that you can hang your jewelry on it, and then hide it back inside.

Lock and Key
Blomus’ Nexio is a locking medicine cabinet that takes its design from a doctor’s office. It’s compact, too, at just under 1 foot wide, so it can squeeze into smaller spaces. Or, you can use it in addition to your existing non-locking cabinet for prescriptions and hazardous items. The modern take on the caduceus is a very cool detail.

Carry All
Rodney Allen Trice takes found objects and gives them a whole new life. One thing he often works with is the vintage suitcase. It turns out that old suitcases are the perfect size and depth for a medicine cabinet. The soft rounded corners of the leather cases are kid-friendly, and Rodney often has lockable cases—making them perfect for a child's bathroom.

Red Cross
Own a true piece of European design with this cross cabinet designed by Thomas Ericksson for Italian design house Cappellini. It’s not cheap, but if you’ve ever owned anything Italian-made (think Lamborghinis), you have to admit that the Italians know a thing or two about quality.

Simply Vintage
On the other side of the style spectrum is this vintage recessed cabinet from Pottery Barn. The rounded corners make it kid-friendly, and you can recess it into the wall so that it simply looks like a mirror—the kids won’t even know it’s a cabinet! It’s also available in white for that shabby chic look.

Box It Up
Nothing says first aid quite like red and white. This wall-mounted round cabinet comes complete with a lock so you can be sure no kiddies will get their hands on any prescriptions. Not too shabby at this price, either.
