Fall is simply the best. And Halloween time at Disneyland — which takes place from September 2 to October 31 — is one of the reasons we adore the autumnal season. From all of the supercute Halloween/fall-themed decor to the special once-a-year treats, it's definitely up there as one of our favorite times of year to visit the Happiest Place on Earth.
Here are just a few reasons why…
The seasonal food

Pumpkin spice season is officially here — and that includes Disneyland and California Adventure. Besides a plethora of delicious-looking Halloween-themed treats (hello, Mickey spiderweb crispy rice treats!) to pumpkin-spiced beignets at the Mint Julep Cafe, there's a ton of savory food offerings and drinks at the various eateries as well.
These were some of our favorite finds:
Pumpkin Spice Horchata Cold Brew – Perfect for when you want a sweet treat and a pick-me-up after walking all day, you can find this delicious seasonal beverage at Joffrey's Coffee Cart in California Adventure (located next to the Paradise Pier entrance) or at Rancho del Zocolo in Disneyland.
Pumpkin Spice Churros – We could've eaten these all day. Take everything you already love about the famous Disneyland churros and add a little pumpkin spice flavor and cream cheese drizzle and it's pretty much the best part of the season. You can find them at the Buena Vista cart near the front of California Adventure.
Spicy Chicken and Fries – Inside Flo's V8 Cafe in Cars Land at California Adventure, these mango habanero sauce smothered chicken tenders are flavor packed and legit spicy (seriously, don't order these if you can't handle heat), which is a welcome respite from all the kid food we often end up eating at theme parks. They come with steak fries drizzled in ranch, making it a perfect adult combo.
There's so much more to try, it's a matter of whether your stomach has the space!
The themed rides

No trip to Disneyland during Halloween time is complete without a trip to the Haunted Mansion attraction, which is done up to the hilt in Nightmare Before Christmas gear.
And if you're park hopping, don't forget to check out Guardians of the Galaxy for a Monsters After Dark (aka after 4 pm) version of the traditional ride with some added spooky surprises.
Characters in costumes

One of the most fun parts of wandering around the parks at Halloween time is seeing Mickey, Minnie, and the gang all dressed up for Halloween. Vampire Mickey, Donald in a to-die-for candy corn costume, and more are sure to thrill little ones and grown-ups alike. And, yes, you can now do meet-and-greets with them again!
The shows

Catch the Mickey Calvacade at various times in Disneyland to see all of your favorite Disney characters in full Halloween regalia — it's a great time to sit down with some snacks and enjoy the true magic of Disneyland.
And while it's not technically part of Halloween Time, it is a fall season special, so head on over to California Adventure's Plaza de la Familia to enjoy the joyous Musical Celebration of Coco show to help celebrate Día De Los Muertos from now until November 2.
Finally, if the little ones can hang (or took a long nap), make sure to stick around for the Halloween Screams show, which uses projections, lights, and epic fireworks in front of the famous Disneyland castle where the Disney villains get to be the stars.
And we'd be remiss not to mention the Disney fan-favorite Oogie Boogie Bash, which takes place this year from September 6 to October 31. Guests have to purchase a separate additional ticket to enter the after-park-hours events where everyone comes dressed in costume and can enjoy treats and attractions along with special events like immersive treat trails, “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” show, the “Frightfully Fun Parade,” character sightings, and much more. Unfortunately, the tickets for this popular event are already sold out for this year, so set some early alarms for next year if you want to to check it out.
The Halloween merch

This year's Halloween-themed Disney ears are beyond adorable, and there are caps and light-up necklaces to complete the collection. Not to mention, all of the other gear, like shirts, home goods, toys, even DOG COSTUMES!
