Goofy and Max

The goofiest (pun intended) Disney character gave us one of the realest scenes in a Disney movie. Lovable Goofy tries to bond with his teenage son Max in "A Goofy Movie." In typical teenage fashion, Max rejects his father's attempts, bringing us this incredibly relatable moment between a parent and their child.

Nana

A play. A novel. A musical. A movie. There have been so many versions of "Peter Pan" since J.M. Barrie first wrote the play in 1904, and through them all, Nana has been watching over the Darling children. There was a real-life Nana, too! The Newfoundland nanny was based on Barrie's own Newfoundland dog, Luath.

"Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." The adorable terrier that accompanied Dorothy on all of her adventures through Oz stole our hearts the second we saw him. Thank goodness he made it home with Dorothy!
Snoopy

Snoopy is a classic cartoon dog, and his adventures both with and without his pal Charlie Brown are legendary. As a part of Charles M. Schulz's "Peanuts" gang, Snoopy has always been one lovable pooch.

Odie

Poor Odie! Garfield picks on him all the time, but Odie doesn't care. He's still got endless love for that grumpy cat, and we've got endless love for him.

Scooby Doo

It's ironic that Scooby is a dog, because he is the biggest scaredy-cat of them all. Solving mysteries with his gang of friends more often than not leads to Scooby and his best pal Shaggy being scared witless by ghosts. They were first portrayed in an animated TV series and later in live-action films.

Lady and Tramp

Is there a more memorable plate of spaghetti and meatballs anywhere in the world? We highly doubt it. Lady, a pampered cocker spaniel, and Tramp, a dog from the wrong side of the tracks, fell in love over an Italian dinner, and we fell in love right along with them.

Old Yeller

Yes, his story is absolutely heartbreaking, but Old Yeller is still one of our favorite famous dogs. First a novel, the classic film adaptation perfectly encapsulates the beautiful friendship between a boy and his dog, even if it does end in tragedy.

Marley

Marley was "the world's worst dog," as told by owner Josh Grogan in his book "Marley and Me." The heartwarming tale of Grogan's attempts to rein in Marley's crazy behavior was then portrayed in a major motion picture. Marley was untrainable, destructive and a certified troublemaker. The Grogan family still loved him despite his terrible behavior, and so did we.

Oh, Marmaduke. You just can't help but get yourself into trouble, can you? That's OK, because we love to see what crazy antics he gets up to in his comic strip.
Air Bud

OK, that wasn't really his name, but who else remembers Buddy? That was one talented dog! First, Buddy became famous for his awesome ability to play basketball, but since the first successful film, he's gone on to play football, soccer, baseball and volleyball. Talk about an all-star athlete.

Blue leaves pawprints on clues for her owner, Steve, to solve the puzzle of what the animated dog is looking for in "Blue's Clues." The TV series was one of Nickelodeon's biggest successes for preschool students, and we certainly haven't forgotten about it over the years.

Hooch turns Scott Turner's life upside down and tears apart his house. But the overly large, sweet canine also helps Turner solve his previous owner's murder and saves his life, so in the end, how can we not fall in love with the slobbery dog?

Chance and Shadow

Chance (bulldog) and Shadow (golden retriever) go on a crazy adventure with Sassy the cat to try and find their owners in "Homeward Bound." Along the way, they encounter a mountain lion, a porcupine and too many injuries to count. However, Chance and Shadow are loyal pooches determined to get home, and their devotion makes us love them even more. Plus, how can you not cry at the reunion scene with their beloved humans?
