There are a few things you never truly know about yourself until you become a mother:
- How fast you are capable of getting ready in the morning.
- How little sleep you can survive on without needing hospitalization.
- How much you are willing to spend on under-eye cream and moisturizers.
- How many wrap sweaters you must have in your closet.
I have discovered that my answers are:
- 18 minutes, if pressed.
- 2 hours. (But I’ve run on 0 hours when necessary.)
- A ridiculous amount.
- See answer to No. 3.
I have also discovered that the items I covet have changed. Of course, I always admire the woman who walks in the room and turns heads in a killer black dress or a badass motorcycle jacket; but now I also desire the items that make a busy mother look pulled together and well-rested, even if we all know it’s a lie.
Here are a few items I have found that will help perpetuate the lie for you:
Mac Mineralized Charged Water: Spray this on to revitalize and freshen up your skin in seconds. It’s the secret weapon nobody ever tells you to keep in your diaper bag, but you should.
Dr. Perricone Cold Plasma Body: This anti-aging body treatment helps to firm and smooth out skin imperfections caused by aging and/or childbirth—everything from wrinkles to dimples to cellulite. Where has this been all my life?
Josie Maran Argan Oil: This organic, nourishing, healing oil works wonders on all parts of your body. You can apply it to your face, nails, hands, hair, and your child’s behind. Buy a larger bottle for your medicine cabinet and a few travel size bottles for when you are on the go.
A Versatile Wrap Sweater: Because whatever cannot be solved with a good moisturizer, can most likely be solved with a great wrap sweater.
