Moms Share Their Worst Mother’s Day Ever — and We Can’t Stop Cry-Laughing

Mother's Day is a source of joy for most moms. A full day where you get what you want and your family waits on you hand and foot, right? Well, not always! Moms can sometimes get the short end of the stick — even on a day specifically made for us.

Many moms have had the experience of being forgotten, being stuck cleaning the house after the celebration, or just getting the opposite gift of what they really wanted.

Hopefully, you can take some solace and find some humor in the holiday knowing that you are not alone in having a bad Mother's Day! And you can always just order something for yourself and get the gift and experience that you really want.

Starting Over

Sometimes starting over might just be easier than explaining why no gift is a very bad idea. Maybe next time they'll get the message!

Off to a Bad Start

How the day starts is usually an important marker to give a glimpse into how the rest of it will go. Well, in this case, it didn't start off great. Let's hope this mom's day gets better as the day went by.

Wrong Holiday

OK, we are all for being resourceful, but this may be taking it too far. Using a sympathy card for a happy holiday just does not go over well when you scratch through the words. Just no.

No Pain, No Gain

Every good reaction has an equal and opposite reaction, right? So does a fall cancel out delicious funnel cakes in this instance? Let's hope she wasn't hurt too badly on her Mother's Day.

2nd Place

Kids may get the benefit of the doubt most times, but most know that the first place ribbon is the best, right? Hoping this mom knows she deserved the top award on Mother's Day.

Go-To Gift

The good thing about a go-to gift is you know what to expect and can plan around using it. The bad thing about a go-to gift is you know what to expect and you're not happy about it. Here's to one too many Starbucks gift cards on our special days. We love coffee and all, but c'mon now, we can do better than this.

Knock-Off Chicken

Oh, hell no! Is it too much to ask to get the real deal on Mother's Day? Sometimes, doing the right thing makes too much sense and our loved ones want to go the unusual route. We can't always fault them for at least trying.

When They Don't Get You

As moms, we take care of so much that when the shoe is on the other foot, sometimes our family gets a little lost. I mean, eight years is not that long for a lifestyle change for them to catch on, or is it?

Not Off-Duty

When your view of a "day off" looks different than what your family expects! How many times do we have to tell our family that going shopping at the grocery store is not fun for us? Spending time doing things for our family, that we always do, doesn't quite cut it as a "day off."

Drown It Out

All we want for Mother's Day is some peace and quiet — is that too much to ask?! Maybe if we turn the volume up little by little, they will get the hint. We love our kids, obviously, but man can they talk our ears off!

Just Do It Yourself

It's got to be the worst when you end up cooking your own dinner! I mean, who eats all of the snacks on Mother's Day? I'm sure that happens on a regular Sunday, but can we just be different for once?

Finding the Humor

REAL funny. Sometimes, a bad Mother's Day can only be overcome by using humor. Our family may have a different view of what makes a great Mother's Day and Mother's Day gift, so getting a good chuckle out of the time will help make up for the horrible gift we get.
