When it comes to hair trends, there's a fine line between cute and crazy. After all, bringing back an '80s-style perm as a fun experiment could end up with you getting side eyes in the pickup line.
If you missed the ombre trend—which, by the way, still seems to be going strong, with moms like Jessica Alba embracing the dip-dyed hair statement—consider the newest look for your locks: splashlights.
So … what are those?
Splashlights, according to Allure, "are a horizontal band of bleached hair that stretches from ear to ear," which the magazine's editors first spotted on colorist Aura Friedman's Tumblr account.
"I wanted to create the effect that a laser beam is hitting your hair at a certain spot," Friedman, who is a colorist at Sally Hershberger Salon in New York, told Allure.
So, moms, what do you think? Is the new trend something you could see yourself trying … or something you could see yourself mocking?
In the pickup line.
When I show up wearing them?
Just kidding. Sort of.
