The calendar tells me that fall has arrived, but the scorching sun outside, casting triple digits onto our SoCal landscape, leaves me yearning for the crisp, cool autumn that's usually coaxed from this time of year. Some states are already enjoying the seasonal shift, complete with red and yellow leaves and blanketed beds. In anticipation of snappy, coldish days ahead, here are some enticements to conjure up the coziness of fall indoors, while we, here at home, patiently wait for it.
- Make a Maple Leaf by combining one jigger whiskey, one jigger maple syrup and two parts fresh lemon juice over ice. Stir and serve in beautiful amber-tone glasses. (1, 3)
- Layer yourself and your home with soft, fluffy accents. (2, 8, 11)
- Light up your home with a warm, glowing lamp for reading or knitting. (7)
- Etsy is a treasure trove of inexpensive, original paintings to bring autumn's colors into your home. (12)
- Make stacks of incredible, fluffy pancakes to drown in scrumptious maple syrup. (10)
- Brew tea to share with friends. (14)
- Light an ornamental collection of candles with scents like sandalwood and musky rose. (4)
- Dab on a rich, warm perfume to carry the feeling of autumn with you all day. (15)
- Trim tables and dressers with bauble boxes in jewel tones. (5)
- Cook abundantly and serve family and friends on hand crafted platters and serving pieces. (6)
