Dry Brushing Is as Rad as They Say

I started dry brushing on a whim almost two years ago.

A friend gifted me a dry brush and I soon put it to use. This little doodad was heavenly! Where had it been all my life?

I shared on Instagram. I gifted one to my sister.

I definitely jumped on the train of “dry brushing is the ultimate self-care”

I mean, it’s not going to fix everything in your life, but dry brushing will absolutely up your full-body skincare game in a new and fabulous way.

Dry brushing is a quick and easy step to better care for your body from the outside in. If you can work it into your routine one to two times a week, I’m pretty certain you’ll become a fan like yours truly.

So, what exactly are the perks of dry brushing?

When regularly incorporated into your routine, dry brushing can:

  • Exfoliate the skin
  • Detox the body
  • Increase circulation
  • Improve skin tone
  • Support digestion
  • Reduce cellulite
  • Boost energy

Honestly, I love that it isn’t an everyday thing. I can’t really manage another daily task.

But once or twice a week, I take a bath after the kids are in bed, and that’s when I break out my dry brush

It’s actually best to dry brush in the morning — because dry brushing can boost energy — but mama takes the time she can get, and for me, it’s the evening.

When dry brushing, I start at the bottom of my feet and brush toward my heart. With long, soft strokes, front and back, go slow and be mindful of covering every inch. It takes only two to three minutes to brush your entire body.

And it might go without saying, but don’t get your dry brush wet. Brush before you get into the bath or shower and just tap it on the sink to release any dead skin. After your shower, dry off well and moisturize well to seal in all the magic.

With dry brushing as part of my regular routine, I’ve definitely experienced smoother, less blemished skin

My circulation is also solid, and I feel like my body heals quicker overall. For example, I recently had a little cold and focused on brushing my lymph system to encourage flow. That, along with vitamins, fresh air, and extra sleep had me back on my feet in no time.

So, if something as simple as dry brushing has so many potential benefits, and you know one gal on the internet who says it’s rad, why not give it a try?
