Kids love to observe. That curiosity is promoted when they have images, words and interesting colors and shapes around them. That's one of the reasons why I like to surround my boy with toys and books that help him develop and nurture that curiosity. I also like to display them since book covers and toys are quite adorable and look great as art and decoration.
So, I started looking for a fun, easy way to arrange some of his favorite books on the wall and I had this idea of making a swinging bookshelf that would work great for books, toys and displaying artwork.
DIY: How to Make a Swinging Bookshelf

2 poplar hobby boards (1/4 in. x 3 in. x 2 ft.)

2 poplar hobby boards (1/4 in. x 1.5 in. x 4 ft.)

120 inches of nylon rope

Start by drilling four holes in the two big poplar hobby boards (1/4 in. x 3 in. x 2 ft.) with two on each side, as if you were making a big swing.
Glue the small poplar hobby boards (1/4 in. x 1.5 in. x 4 ft.) on the sides of the big poplar hobby boards, like if you were making an "L" shape. This will help as a support to hold the books and toys when you lay them down.
It's time to cut the rope. Cut 4 long pieces of 30 inches each.
Pass the rope through each hole of the poplar hobby boards. Make four knots. Then pass the rope again through the next poplar hobby board and make four more knots at the end.
Make a big knot at the top.
Use a nail to hang the swinging bookshelf on the wall. Hang it tall enough so the kids don't try to sit on it or pull it down.
Now you're ready to start displaying your kids' favorite books. You can also sit favorite teddy bears and other toys on it — they'll look charming as if they were sitting on a big swing together.
