When it comes time to spring clean your home, knowing which items to add to your spring cleaning supply list is half the battle. Once you've set aside some time from your busy schedule to declutter, deep clean, and organize your home, it's time to choose the proper tools and cleaning products to get the job done right. Use this list to begin your house cleaning supply checklist in advance of your spring cleaning session so you have everything ready to go when you need it.
Basic cleaning supplies get the job done

The right supplies can make all the difference when cleaning your home. The best cleaning supplies are often the ones simple and inexpensive.
- O'Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop & Bucket System includes a bucket with a receptacle that lets you spin your wet mop wringing it out so your floor isn't dripping wet. The microfiber mop lifts dirt and grime when wet and also acts as a floor duster when dry.
- Microfiber towels are ideal for deep cleaning as the fibers can permeate cracks and pits on surfaces. Even better: According to an independent study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), microfiber cloths are 98% effective in getting rid of bacteria and viruses on those surfaces.
Professional housekeeper Vanesa Amaro provides house cleaning tips across her social media platforms. She recently explained to her followers how to clean microfiber towels after use, advising against using regular laundry detergent. Instead, use Clorox Laundry Sanitizer, Tide, and Borax to properly disinfect microfiber rags.
"The laundry sanitizer has to be left on the rinse cycle for 15 minutes in order for it to sanitize. When they're ready to go in the dryer, don't put in any dryer sheets, just wool balls and dry on delicate," the popular Tik Tok influencer explained in her Instagram video.
Cleaning products that do double duty

Stretch your cleaning dollar by purchasing cleaning products that you can use in your home across the board. Streamline your cleaning and save money at the same time.
- Dawn Powerwash dishwasher detergent acts as a degreaser to cut through buildup on pots and pans, but it can also be used to clean oven grates, bathtubs, and toilets.
- Tide laundry detergent powder can be used in multiple ways to clean your home. Diluted in hot water, it can be used on kitchen and bathroom floors and as an abrasive to scrub tile grout. Tide also works well as a stain remover on furniture.
- Baby wipes come in handy for wiping down dusty surfaces, cleaning baseboards, and loosening dried beverages from sippy cup leaks.
- Bio-Kleen Bac-Out Stain and Odor Remover works on a variety of surfaces for a multitude of issues.
New mom and professional cleaner Melissa Maker talked about one of her favorite cleaning products in her YouTube video. "A lot of people don't know about enzyme cleaners because they're not marketed," the Clean My Space founder said. "If you have fingerprints on your wooden cabinets that you can't get rid of, enzyme cleaners are going to solve that problem for you. They are applied to a surface and start to digest or break down dirt or grease."
Spring cleaning hacks to save time and money

Your home is likely to be subject to typical wear and tear, especially with young children in the mix. Whether it's scuffed walls from a foam sword fight that got out of hand or markings on your hardwood floors, quick cleaning hacks that use what you already have on hand, can save you time and money.
- Make your own DIY scuff remover using baking soda and a damp sponge — it acts like a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser at a fraction of the cost. Use the baking soda and sponge to buff out everything from fruit juice stains on the countertop to marks on the wall.
- Juice half a lemon with some water in a cup, and put it in the microwave for a minute; the resulting steam will help loosen the food particles making it easy to just wipe off with a microfiber cloth.
- Invest in a double-sided squeegee for cleaning windows and mirrors. Use hot water, vinegar, and dish soap to make quick and easy work of glass surfaces.
