How to Sterilize Cabinets

Step 1

Clean a container capable of holding 1 gallon of liquid. Rinse the container with cold water afterward.

Step 2

Don rubber or plastic protective gloves. Pour 1 cup of bleach into the gallon container.

Step 3

Add 9 cups of water to the bleach in the gallon container. Pour slowly to prevent splashing.

Step 4

Empty all objects out of the cabinet.

Step 5

Dampen a clean cloth with the bleach and water mixture. Wet all surfaces of the cabinet using the cloth, including the tops and bottoms of the shelves, the doors and the door handles. Leave the bleach water to sit for at least 30 minutes, or until the bleach smell dissipates.

Step 6

Wipe down the outside of the objects stored in the cabinet with a cloth soaked in warm water if desired.

Step 7

Clean the cabinet with a clean cloth soaked in warm water to remove the bleach and water solution. Allow the cabinet to dry before placing any objects in it.
