Some are between parents and their kids as they excitedly take in the game. In contrast, others are an engaged conversation between a young couple having a moment. Such was the case for a couple who recently attended an Indiana Pacers basketball game, where Pacers TV captured what appeared to be an intense conversation between the two. This couple’s interaction sparked so many funny online conversations, some of which centered on what really constitutes true love. The thing that became so clear when this interaction quickly went viral was that people are utterly fascinated when they have the opportunity to observe a very normal interaction between a couple. Maybe it’s the whole relatability factor that immediately hooks people.
Currently sitting at over 22 million views, Pacers TV was able to catch not even a 20-second clip of a couple having a mildly heated convo — but also recognized as completely normal between those in a committed relationship — at a recent Indiana Pacers basketball game versus the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
As you can see, the boyfriend in this scenario is going on for a minute as his girlfriend, who has the courtesy to let him finish, gives some rather funny looks that may suggest she doesn’t fully agree with what he’s been saying.
Towards the end of the clip, you can make out, through lip reading, as she shakes her head in disbelief, that she said to him, “That’s you. That’s you. What the f— are you talking about?” It honestly makes us laugh every time we watch the clip.

If you’ve watched the clip once, twice, or twenty times, you probably couldn’t help but immediately wonder what the dude in this scenario was even discussing to warrant that kind of reaction from his partner.
Sports Illustrated was able to track down the couple caught on camera that day, and their names are Grace and Michael. Both were fully outfitted in cute Pacers gear as they sat and watched the game.
So, what subject matter was the couple discussing that had them so deeply invested in this conversation? According to SI, Michael shared that they were actually having a conversation that stemmed from a podcast he listened to, which led to a discussion about the future of liberal arts colleges. Yes, you read that correctly!
Michael went on to share that the couple was talking about “the academic rigor of a liberal arts education, and essentially how it can be updated for the current economic status and job market.” This pair would make a great couple to sit beside at a dinner party. The conversation would never be dull!
Grace did feel the need to clarify to the magazine that she does, in fact, like and respect her boyfriend, in case there was any confusion. “The thing is, Michael and I have been together for four years—wonderful, happy years. But that’s just what we do. We both just talk. He’s frighteningly smart. So what everyone witnessed was me listening to his well-articulated thoughts and responding with what you saw, which was ‘What the f— are you talking about?'” she shared.
Pretty much everyone fell for this couple, including Shaq.

There were so many hilarious reactions online to this viral couple. For the most part, even before people knew their names and a little bit about their story, they fully believed this was a couple in a committed relationship. They showed a healthy dose of open communication as they sat courtside that day.
Someone reposted the couple’s video on their X account and captioned it with, “This couple is ironclad, full of magic and gonna last forever.” Honestly, we couldn’t agree more! To see how Grace felt so comfortable calling him out in that conversation, and how Michael paused to consider her words. This is a couple who obviously love to communicate.
Another person brought the laughs by reposting the video on their X account. They said, “The hottest thing a man can do is agree with me when I tell him to stfu.” Too funny!
Even four-time NBA champion, Shaquille O’Neal, had something to say about the viral couple. He hosted the pair on his ESPN show, Inside The NBA, and couldn’t help but make an offer that many people would likely take him up on. He told Michael, “If you ask her to marry you right now, I’ll buy the engagement ring.” Of course, Grace had something to say about Shaq’s proposition! As she 100% should.
