Usher May Be Married but His Super Halftime Show Was for the Moms

It was confirmed Monday afternoon that Usher and his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea married in Las Vegas, just one day after his big Super Bowl performance. Usher brought Allegiant Stadium to their feet with a 15-minute performance of some of his greatest hits. His performance featured Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, H.E.R. and of course Lil' Jon and Ludacris. Anyone who watched the show enjoyed it, but no group enjoyed it as much as moms over the age of 30. Here are some tweets that show just how much.

Thankfully, someone provided context for our reactions

Nickelodeon commentators were doing kids a service. They needed to understand why their moms suddenly started screaming and dropping it low, and why they would need to be picked up in a minute.

Not the regular moms, the cool moms

Watching Usher sing "Yeah!" on TV brings many of us moms back to the last time other people thought we were cool. And yes, many of us discovered that we still know all the words to Luda's rap.

Everyone is now going to the Usher concert

Enjoying Usher's performance was a multigenerational experience, and even if your mom wasn't that into it in 2004, this morning, she's ready to be first in line at the merch table.

Then THAT moment happened

Maybe we should have seen it coming, but the moment Usher began taking his shirt off, you could hear the collective screams of a bunch of moms all over the world.

Can you blame her?

Look, if that's the first time you're seeing Usher without a shirt on, it's safe to say that yes, you will never feel the same way again. How can you not smile thinking about it?

Why not both?

Look, of course dad bods are all the rage, and for good reason. But Jason Kelce kept his shirt on last night, and Usher saw that and decided that he would take one for the team.

Even the young ones know

This tweet goes to show that you don't have to be a mom to understand the universal appeal of Usher. But if you as a mom consistently talk about him, children are listening.

This may be true

It may be a little crass, but what he's saying could have a certain amount of truth to it. And what's wrong with a mom appreciating the attractiveness of a celebrity?

The kids learned what their moms already knew

There's nothing like the moment where your kid tells you that you were right, even if they don't say those exact words. We love to see a kid who finally gets what we're saying.

Help our 'clickity bones'

If there's one thing us moms learned last night during Usher's performance, it's that once you drop it down, you better have a plan on getting back up! Because these old bones don't want to hear it!

The real ones know

When Usher said "I wanna make love in this club," he didn't realize that his songs had probably encouraged that kind of behavior many times over in the past. But we're grateful for the memories.

Thank you Usher

Usher may have made that shirt moment seem organic, but us moms know that he really did it to make us all smile for a minute. We appreciate how much he was looking out for our happiness.
