Last night's VMAs was a family affair for singer Shakira. The singer was awarded the Video Vanguard Award, which is the highest honor. Accompanying the star to the award show were two very special people — her sons! The boys walked the red carpet with their superstar mom.

The Video Vanguard Award is a very big deal for an artist, as it celebrates someone with a long, successful career. In addition to that award, she was nominated for four other awards, including Artist of the Year.
Shakira looked stunning in a shimmery gold gown with an open back. Her sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, wore matching sweatsuits that went nicely with her gown. Their outfits had a gold-and-black pattern that went down the sides of their hoodies and pants. They also wore matching black sneakers.
Shakira shares her boys with ex-husband Gerard Piqué. After they split in June 2022, she made it a priority to "conceal" the reality of the breakup from the boys.
"I try to do it and to protect them, because that's my number one mission in life," she told Elle a few months after the split.
In April of this year, she shared a post on Instagram saying goodbye to Barcelona, where she and the boys had been living. She shared the message in Spanish, which was translated into English.
"I settled in Barcelona to give stability to my children, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.
Today we start a new chapter in the pursuit of our happiness," she said.
