Trips to Paris, Australia, and every other corner of the world. Shopping for designer clothes. Getting courtside seats to watch one of the greatest athletes of all time. Having a mom who is over the moon happy to spend time with her daughter. Yeah, we're not going to lie: In our next life, we'd be pretty thrilled to come back as Olympia Ohanian! While many stars are parents, we'd argue that tennis legend Serena Williams often seems like one of the happiest and most engaged celebrity moms out there.
One of the things that we really admire about Serena is that she's been refreshingly candid about how hard and scary her labor, delivery, and postpartum experiences were with Olympia (who's now an adorable 5-year-old). So we are extra happy for her now that she is clearly finding so much joy in motherhood.
Though she recently retired from tennis, it's still really obvious that both her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and daughter are her biggest fans. And a quick look at Serena's Instagram account shows that the feeling is mutual, even when Olympia adorably crashed her mom's massage appointment. This is a mother-daughter duo who seems to really enjoy having adventures together, and we've rounded up 16 of our favorite moments that prove that Olympia is Serena's perfect sidekick.
Nighttime Shenanigans
Who said matching pajamas are just for the holidays? Serena and Olympia aren't going to miss the chance to look cute and cozy together in matching jammies all year round. We love that their nighttime routine includes not only matching sleepwear but also selfies, silliness, and some yoga to start winding things down.
Farm Day
Yes, Serena and her sweet family take plenty of epic trips around the world, but it's pretty obvious that Olympia is just as good of a little sidekick for more regular family activities, too. A trip to a farm and a ride in a golf cart is always a good time!
Books & Hair
Here's another relatable moment. Like so many other moms, Serena has discovered how helpful it can be to have a book to distract her daughter while they do hair. Unlike the rest of us, the book they are using for distraction is one that happens to be a picture book about Olympia's own doll, baby Qai Qai.
Date Night?
OK, the caption on this sweet Instagram photo says this a date-night moment, but we're not sure Serena's husband was invited. We're thinking it was really more of a cuddle moment for Serena and her little sidekick, who looked so cozy under her mom's cardigan.
The Sidekick Meets the Duchess
Serena is famously good friends with Meghan Markle and was even a guest on Meghan's Archetypes podcast. Like any good sidekick, Olympia got to hang with her mom during a visit from the Duchess of Sussex. No word if Olympia is officially #TeamHarry yet, though!
Travel Buddies
Olympia is only 5, but we're guessing that she probably already has more stamps in her passport than most of us will get in a lifetime. She's accompanied her mom on tennis tournaments as well as fun summer trips like this one to Greece in 2022.
Forever Bestie
Aw, it's sweet that Serena calls her little sidekick her "forever bestie," but we're a little distracted by these fabulous mother-daughter dresses. We know Serena and Olympia dig the matching outfit vibes, so we can't help but wonder just how many matching looks they have?
Matchy-Matchy, Again
See what we mean? Not only do they have multiple pairs of seriously cute matching pajamas, but they also have a whole little black dress situation happening here, too. It looks like Olympia inherited her mother's love of fashion and good taste.
Chic in Paris
OK, they look AMAZING. We learned from this Instagram post that not only does Serena bring her daughter to Paris for designer clothes shopping, but that the rest of us could also do a matching Balmain vibe with our own little sidekicks. The fashion line has a "Mini Me" collection, so if a $600 dress and $500 sweatshirts for 5-years-olds are in your budget, go crazy!
Glam Time Company
We imagine that it can take celebs hours to get all their hair and makeup glam done for a big event. Luckily for Serena, she had Olympia to keep her company as she got fancied up for the 2022 Critics' Choice Awards.
Olympia the Superfan
The role of sidekick is an important one, but so is the role of biggest fan and cheerleader. This photo of Olympia trying to capture a good shot of her mom during a tournament is so sweet. Did it turn out blurry? Probably. Is it still awfully cute? Obviously!
Fashion Friends
Serena and Olympia got the chance to show off their dance moves together in an ad campaign for Stuart Weitzman in 2021. We're guessing that one of the perks of being a sidekick is that Olympia probably already has a good manager for future career opportunities like this.
Queens of the Court
Time will only tell if Olympia inherited her mom's athletic talents and competitive spirit, but we're mostly curious if Serena is the kind of parent who'd let her kids win when they play together? Something tells us that Olympia may be playing for a long time before she scores a real point off her mom.
Art Appreciation
Who hasn't had a moment when they just wanted to take a break and lie down on the floor? Most of us probably don't do it when we are looking at art, but most of us aren't multimillionaire art collectors either, so we're guessing nobody gives this cute duo that much grief about it.
Keeping Dry
Ha! We love that Serena and Olympia are rocking the matching rain ponchos and dad Alexis is in a tank top that is probably about to be soaking wet from this amusement park ride at Universal Studios. Here's hoping he dried off quickly!
The Massage Sidekick
Did busy working mom Serena want company for her massage? We know that we probably would not, but we also can't deny that it is very cute when someone else's kid crashes their mom's massage for a sweet snuggle. Hopefully Serena still got some knots worked out, even with her little buddy by her side.
