The 2024 ESPY awards took place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Thursday, July 11. The big night for sports was hosted by tennis great Serena Williams. She made it a family affair.
Her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and their 6-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., joined the 23-time Grand Slam champion on the red carpet. Serena rocked a blonde bombshell look. Her oldest daughter, who goes by Olympia, looked adorable and stole the show.
Serena rocked a custom black Giorgio Armani Privé gown. It featured an embroidered bra and train that glowed with gold Swarovski crystals. The mother of two proved blondes have more fun.
Hairstylist Angela Meadows helped Serena achieve her light locks. “I wanted to give her an old Hollywood glam inspired look to set the stage for this momentous night,” Angela explained to People. “The chic, classic bombshell waves build up hype for the incredible looks we have planned throughout the rest of the awards ceremony.”
Olympia followed her mom’s lead. She donned a short-sleeve silver dress which complemented her mother’s look. The skirt flair gave it some sass, as did her little hand on her hip. Her serious model face was just adorable. Baby sister Adira River Ohanian was too young for the big event and stayed at home.
Another great red carpet look from the evening was sported by LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne. She slayed in a gold halter top evening gown. She told People it took her two and a half hours to get ready for the big night.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not walk the red carpet. That didn’t stop someone from trying to get a message to the royal couple. A plane flew a banner over the venue that read “Prince Harry: Investigate Mum’s Death.” Wild conspiracy theories have long surrounded Princess Diana’s 1997 passing. Harry was honored with the Pat Tillman Award for Service.
