Ryan Reynolds Gushes About Life as a Girl Dad and the Best Part of Being Married to Blake

As one of four boys, Ryan Reynolds grew up surrounded by "dudes." But these days, the actor is outnumbered by all the leading ladies in his life — including his wife, Blake Lively, 33, and daughters James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1 1⁄2. In a series of recent interviews, Ryan opened up about everything from life as a "girl dad" (spoiler alert: He loves it) to his favorite parts of marriage, after spending nearly a decade with Blake by his side.

According to Ryan, growing up in a house full of boys was definitely "interesting"

It's also a wonder he even survived it, when you hear his description of how it all went down.

“I was the youngest of four boys, so I find doors to be a privilege,” he explained during a recent SirusXM interview. “For the most part I was thrown through walls. I was a moving target, I was emergency harvestable organs. You name it, I was that, as the youngest of four large, strapping boys. I include my dad, because he was almost like a child at times."

Now he's living on the opposite end of the spectrum

"Having girls, now I don’t know anything else," he admitted. "Our last-born daughter, Betty, I was worried. We didn’t know what the sex was going to be. I was like, ‘If I have a boy, what is that going to be like?'"

Unless the Deadpool actor decides to go for Kid No. 4, he may never know. And by the sound of things, that may be OK by him.

Reynolds also gushed about fatherhood on 'Live! With Kelly & Ryan'

“I’m 100 percent a girl dad," he said. "I love it. I absolutely love it."

"I didn’t expect to be a girl dad," he went on. "I didn’t expect to be a dad. I didn’t expect to be married."

"It’s all part of the Hollywood arrangementship," the actor joked. “I looked at the contract, and none of that was in there. But we just jumped in.”

If he ever *did* have boys, though, Ryan knows he'd be in for it

“I did live in fear that it was going to be boys," he admitted on Live! "[When I was a kid] the only way you could leave a room was through a perfectly good wall. I was like, ‘Why does it have to be like this?’”

Armed with the knowledge of his youth, Ryan said he'd likely have to prepare big time if he ever became a dad of boys.

"If I had boys, I’d probably pay for nothing but padded rooms," he quipped.

(LOL! But seriously …. )

For now, Ryan seems pretty content with his three kiddos

He also seems super happy with Blake; they're set to celebrate 10 years of marriage next month.

During the recent SiriusXM interview, Ryan was asked what the best thing about being married to Blake was — that people wouldn't expect. And, after giving it some thought, Ryan really did whip out a response that no one would expect.

Apparently, Blake has played a bigger hand in her husband's career than anyone might think.

“I write on a lot of my movies," Ryan explained, calling it his "survival mechanism."

“Sometimes I’m credited; sometimes I’m not,” he continued.

But here's the unexpected part …

"There [is] a lot of A++ writing that I’ve done that was actually Blake, that Blake would jump in, grab the keyboard, and say ‘What about this?’” Ryan confessed. “And I’d be like, ‘That’s incredible.’”

That said, she rarely gets credit, even in private circles

Then again, Blake never really looks for it, either.

“I will say that a lot of times: ‘She wrote that; Blake wrote that, not me. That was her,’" Ryan shared. "And they still, later on, repeat the story as I wrote it. So she’s a really talented, multihyphenate kind of person in this weird burgoo of an entertainment industry that we work in."

Honestly, could they BE a cuter couple? (We think not.)
