Reba McEntire Breaks Her Silence About Kelly Clarkson’s Divorce From Her Stepson

Country music megastar Reba McEntire has finally opened up about Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock's contentious divorce. Reba was married to Brandon's father, Narvel Blackstock, for more than 25 years, and has maintained a relationship with her stepson Brandon since her own divorce. But it sounds like mama Reba isn't taking sides in the split.

Reba and Narvel were married from 1989 to 2015

During their time together, 66-year-old Reba and Narvel not only cared for his children from a previous relationship, but also welcomed a child of their own together, a son named Shelby Blackstock. In the years following their divorce, two have remained on good terms with each other.

Kelly's relationship with Reba's stepson was much shorter-lived

Kelly officially filed for divorce from Brendon in 2020. The one-time American Idol star cited irreconcilable differences in the court documents. Since then, Kelly has leveled a lot of accusations against her estranged husband, including that he stole from her.

The country music star isn't taking sides in the split

It sounds like Reba doesn't want to say too much about Kelly and Brandon's divorce because she cares so much for the couple. "You know, I love them both," she explained to Extra. "Brandon's my stepson, Kelly's my good friend, and I'm pulling for both of them. I hope they're happy and healthy and pull though this. I pray that everybody gives them the encouragement that they can because they need it right now, both of them do. I love them both with all my heart."

Divorce is hard, but Kelly and Brandon's split seems especially messy

While Kelly and Brandon's divorce isn't yet finalized โ€” it sounds like the courts won't officially end their marriage until January 2022 โ€” a lot has been going on behind the scenes for the pair. We know that Kelly has been ordered to pay Brandon $150,000 per month in temporary spousal support and $45,601 per month in child support.

We're glad Reba is there for her loved ones

It sounds like Reba has some experience with divorce and co-parenting. She may be a good resource for both Kelly and Brandon to turn to when the going gets tough and as they adjust to life after the divorce is finalized. Hopefully they'll take advantage of the love she has for both of them and ask her how she's managed to make her post-divorce life with Narvel a good one.
