Over the weekend, Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow had an important announcement to share with her followers. In a heartfelt Instagram post in honor of International Son's Day, Heather revealed that her youngest child is transgender and shared her words of support for her 12-year-old.
Heather shared a photo from the beach
Right away, she shared her love for her youngest son, Ace, whose name was written in the sand in the photo she posted.
"Our job as parents is to give our kids a safe and supportive environment so they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident, independent humans. Since Ace is a 12 year old child, with a long life ahead of him – we will let him tell his own story someday if he chooses to do so," she wrote. "All we can say is Ace, we love you so much and we are proud to be your parents. Your brother and sisters love and support you too."
Heather's family received so much support in the comments

Fellow Real Housewives star Alexis Bellino commented on the post, writing, "We love you Ace!!!!!!!" along with Bravo host Andy Cohen, who simply commented with clapping hands emojis.
Lance Bass got in on the action as well, adding, "Acing the mom thing!"
Bethenny Frankel also posted about Heather's son
Sharing a video that her daughter, Bryn, made with Ace, Bethenny showed her support for their family after they had been skiing together in Aspen and had dinner together.
"When I first met Ace at the table, there was a noticeable joy & happiness in his essence — an extra dose of sweetness, which I communicated to Heather after the dinner. There was something extra happy about him. Upon reflection, I was sure it was that he is allowed to be who he actually is," she wrote.
Heather has three other children
Along with Ace, Heather and husband Terry Dubrow are also parents to three other kids: their 19-year-old twins, Nick and Max, along with 16-year-old Kat. It looks like Ace will have plenty of support from the family during this time — and even from those outside of the family, if his mom's Instagram comments are any indication.
Good for Heather and Terry for allowing their children to be who they are

Not only is Heather giving her son the support he needs from his mom, but she's also setting a great example of how to show that support as a parent, and we love to see it.
Good for Ace for living his best life!
