Pink Says ‘Good Luck’ to Tween Daughter Willow Trying to Get a Cell Phone

Singer Pink is just like a lot of other parents when it comes to letting her tween have a cell phone. In an interview earlier this year, she revealed that her daughter Willow didn't have a cell phone, and that she wasn't going to make it easy for her to acquire one either.

Her stipulation? Willow had to prove the benefits of social media.

"I told [Willow], point blank, 'If you can produce literature from a reputable source that tells me that social media is good for you, then you can be on it. Otherwise, good luck,'" the singer shared.

She knows that the decision to let tweens get phones is a difficult one to make, saying, "It’s hard. A lot of my friends have their kids on TikTok and I don’t."

But she also made it clear that the decisions other parents make for their children "doesn't move my needle." She told her daughter, "They're not my kids, you're my kid."

Pink has to parent her daughter differently

The singer knows that because of her profession, her children will be subjected to different treatment if they're on social media. She mentioned explaining to her daughter that there will be "a lot of eyes on her" because of who her parents are.

She did note that Willow has a watch that she can use to get in touch with her parents if necessary.

But Pink isn't underestimating her girl's ability to get what she wants. After saying her daughter is like a "lawyer," she added "she might actually find that literature, but good luck."

She is just trying to look out for her kids

In the interview, Pink also explained that she tries not to "coddle" her kids, including her 6-year-old son Jameson, out of fear that the world will "eat them up."

Because of this, she's always trying to find the balance in parenting, adding that there is a "fine line" between maintaining her kids' "innocence" and "preparing" them for what will come in the future.

Sounds like she's doing a great job so far.
