What to Know
If you’re of a certain age, you likely remember what a time it was for MTV when docustyle reality shows like 16 & Pregnant were all the rage. Of course, they weren’t without their controversies, because why do we need to be even remotely glamorizing or promoting teenagers having babies, but if you really got into them, they could certainly entertaining. Speaking of entertainment, Nikkole Ledda, who starred on season two of the hit show, went viral when she shared a much requested video on her TikTok.
The video shares a glimpse of her 16-year-old son, Lyle, who she was pregnant while starring on the show, reacting and commenting on various scenes from a season two episode. Seriously, this whole reaction video kind of has us wishing for a spin-off of sorts featuring the children of MTV stars watching back their parents. There could be something there!
You have to give props to Nikkole for opening up about this part of her life again, especially with her son.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens to a lot of the reality TV stars who were on shows like Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant back in the day, social media is a pretty great way to find out.
Nikkole Ledda’s viral video starts with the caption, “I let my son watch my ’16 & Pregnant’ episode for the first time… Here are some of his thoughts.” It’s then followed by a quick shot of the former MTV star’s son, Lyle, sitting on the sofa with both his hands covering his eyes while Nikkole pans to herself grinning pretty wide. From the very beginning, you can tell this is going to be good!
In the first clip that’s shown, you get a quick look at a 16 (and very pregnant) Nikkole trying on dresses for a school dance while her boyfriend and father of Lyle, Josh Drummonds, causes a scene.
Immediately, Lyle is shocked to see how his dad is treating his mom here. He exclaims, “He’s wilding! Why is he so crazy? Why did you let him bully you?” Smart kid. Already we are liking him!
We have to say that Nikkole’s son is already miles ahead of his father in terms of… emotional intelligence.
In case you haven’t been following her life since her MTV days, Nikkole’s former boyfriend and father of her son, Lyle, has not fared so well. He’s been in and out of prison for various things, including armed robbery. So, let’s just say that Nikkole is likely hoping that her son takes after her as opposed to his dad.
Beyond wondering why a bedroom is painted a horrible neon green color, which is a perfectly sensible and funny question, Lyle can be seen in utter disbelief at some of the things coming out of his father’s mouth throughout this 16 & Pregnant episode.
When Nikkole is in labor at the hospital, she can be seen in a really uncomfortable state saying that she “hates this,” while Josh has the audacity to tell her that men tend to have a higher pain tolerance than women. Um, what? Lyle felt the exact same way as us when he turned to his mom in shock and asked, “What made him so dense? Why is he so dense? What makes him say that in that moment?” That is a very good question, Lyle!
Seeing that this is a ‘hard watch’ for her son tells us everything we need to know!
There’s certainly something to be said when you’re a 16 year old mom, who also happened to appear on a problematic MTV reality show, and you were still able to seemingly raise your son well.
Poor Lyle. As he continues to watch the clips from his mom’s episode, including a standoff fight between Josh and Nikkole’s mother while she’s in labor, things like, “I have no words” and “It’s a hard watch” come out of his mouth. We’d have to agree there. It really is a difficult watch.
We’re not the only ones that take notice of Lyle’s mature demeanor, especially when it comes to watching his dad mistreat his mom at a young age. One individual in the TikTok comments says, “The fact he’s more mature [than] his dad was at that age shows you did a great job raising him.” This is exactly it! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
Another person writes, “Girl, we were all so mad at your episode. Watching the literal baby also be mad about it 16 years later is so satisfying.” There is something very full circle about this moment.
Are there any other former teen moms doing this sort of thing on their social media because, if anything, it’s great to see how time has progressed and that kind of poor behavior from young men is fairly taboo now.
