In a perfect world, Nick Cannon would have gotten a much earlier start on his parenting journey. The father of 12 recently opened up about the one who got away, saying that he has some major regrets about how he never had a chance to start a family with ex Christina Milian.

He dished on his love life, opening up about his 2003 romance with his former costar. According to Nick, Christina is the one who got away. "Christina Milian and I were doing Love Don't Cost a Thing, and I remember when I found out she was pregnant [several years later]. I was like, 'Dang, man,'" Nick recalled in the interview.
That doesn't mean that Nick had any hard feelings for his ex
He may have felt like he missed his shot, but that didn't keep Nick from wishing the best for Christina. "But I was so happy for her," he continued. "I remember we were kids in love, early on, and so we talked about that. But to each his own. Life plans it out. The universe gives it how it's supposed to be given."
The pair even talked about starting a family together at one point
Before calling it quits in 2005, the love birds tossed around the idea of building a future together. "We definitely had our romantic thing and conversations on what it would be like, back then," Nick recalled.
It seems like there was definitely a chance the duo could make it happen, but Nick's wandering eye got in the way.

The talk show host eventually had an affair, which ended their relationship. Christina went on to have three children, her first with The Dream in 2010 and then two more with Matt Pokora in 2017. As for Nick, he went on to create a massive family with several different women who share his same views on creating large families.

Nick may have regrets, but he's obviously exactly where he's meant to be
Even though he may be having second thoughts about the life he could have had, we're sure the father of 12 wouldn't change much. Who knows — if he and Christina had built the life they'd been planning together, Nick may have never gotten a chance to have all of the children he has today. We can't imagine he'd trade that for a shot at anything else.
