What to Know
The idea of seeing a celebrity like Ms. Rachel live in person is enough to make most parents stop what they’re doing and stand in line for however long it takes to be part of a meet and greet starring the educator and YouTuber. That’s what happened for a ton of parents who arrived at what they thought was an official Ms. Rachel meet and greet at a Florida ice cream shop.
Then, they showed up and the Ms. Rachel in question might have been better off going as Ms. Raquel, because she was very much an impersonator rather than the actual kids’ content icon we all know and love from YouTube. The ice cream shop didn’t specify this in its initial flyer and parents were understandably upset. Later, an updated flyer was released, but by then, the damage had already been done.
The Ms. Rachel lookalike event had a lot of parents confused.
This happened in Florida…families lined up to meet Ms. Rachel, only to discover it was an impersonator. Less than 48 hours later, Ms. Rachel was arrested for retail theft and quickly dubbed "Ms. Criminal." pic.twitter.com/NEH2rEr2Ox

In a video that was posted on X (formerly Twitter), you can see parents lined up outside of an ice cream shop in a small shopping plaza. There is also a bounce house set up outside and, inside, it’s nearly pandemonium with a large crowd, a bar set up in one area of the shop, and kids literally everywhere. As for Ms. Rachel? Not a genuine pink headband and pair of overalls in sight. Well, ones that belong to the OG, anyway.
Per the post, “This happened in Florida…families lined up to meet Ms. Rachel, only to discover it was an impersonator. Less than 48 hours later, Ms. Rachel was arrested for retail theft and quickly dubbed ‘Ms. Criminal.'”
That last bit doesn’t have much to do with the appearance from the Ms. Rachel impersonator, because the reported arrest is not tied to the event. But parents were not pleased with having been swindled, at least where they are concerned. Look, we’ve all waited in line to meet fake Elsas and other Disney characters. The difference is that we were well aware ahead of time that the character was not the real deal. Apparently, these parents believed the real Ms. Rachel would be there.
Someone pointed out, “It did say meet and greet with Ms. Rachel impersonator on the flyer.”
Another user added, “And she would’ve gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for you meddling kids! Nah, but I’m honestly confused. On the flyer it said, Impersonator and it was FREE Ice Cream, FREE Face painting and activities! Where’s the Scam??”
The supposed scam in question is due to the alleged original flyer that most definitely did not have ‘impersonator’ written on it. The ice cream shop shared an “updated” flyer on Instagram, but what about the original?
The flyer was updated afterward, but the original does not specify ‘lookalike.’

The ice cream shop posted its updated flyer for the Ms. Rachel impersonator event after the original was apparently taken down. But someone on TikTok shared a screenshot of the alleged original flyer that does not have the word ‘impersonator’ on it under the Ms. Rachel announcement. The screenshot could be altered, but if it’s the real deal, then it’s a lot more understandable why some parents were outraged when a fake Ms. Rachel was there to meet their kids and take photos.
