Meghan McCain Reveals She’s Been ‘Urged’ to Use Ozempic to Shed Her Baby Weight

New mom Meghan McCain is taking a powerful stand against taking Ozempic for weight loss. According to the daytime talk show host, she's been pushed to use the controversial diabetes drug by both doctors and friends, and in each instance, she has told them no for some pretty powerful reasons.

Celebrities everywhere are catching heat for using the medication

Mindy Kaling and Khloé Kardashian are among some of the famous names giving a face to the Ozempic craze. (Both are rumored to have used it to shed significant weight.) Many people are taking the drug — originally prescribed to help improve blood sugar in those with type 2 diabetes — to achieve quick and dramatic weight loss.

It's causing medication shortages for those who need it

People who rely on the drug to treat their diabetes are reporting that it's become increasingly hard to obtain now that it's become a popular way to beat the bloat for the Hollywood elite. This is just one of the reasons Meghan cited when she explained why she's saying no to the Ozempic hype.

Meghan wrote about it for 'The Daily Mail'

In a new piece, she explained how her doctor told her that "everyone" is using Ozempic, and that she was encouraged to give it a shot in an attempt to lose the baby weight after giving birth to her second daughter, Clover, in January.

"I was even offered a black-market freebie by someone with 'extra shots at home,'" she explained, adding that she's refused every offer she's received.

She also cited 'moral' issues as a reason why she's turning it down

Meghan wrote that she "would rather have a few extra pounds" than shoot herself "up with medicine" and that she wants to leave the dwindling Ozempic supplies to those who "legitimately struggle with obesity."

And perhaps most compelling of all, Meghan said her children are the other big reason why she's staying away from the drug, which has not been studied long-term as a weight loss tool.

The mother of two wants to set a good example for her daughters

Meghan shares two little girls with husband Ben Domenech, and she wants them to be able to stand strong when it comes to the unreasonable beauty standards facing today's women.

"Their world will only be more challenging as social media seeps more deeply into the American mind," she continued. "This is not the world I want for them, and not the world I want for myself."

With a strong mom like Meghan, we think they'll be well-armed against the societal pressures to have a certain type of body. We applaud Meghan for speaking out and not following the crowd.
