The chase, which lasted more than two hours, occurred while the royal family was in town for the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards. A spokesperson for Prince Harry said the chase "resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers," according to Reuters.
The paparazzi was driving on the sidewalk, running red lights, and taking pictures while driving.
The spokesperson added that the chase was the result of "highly aggressive paparazzi."
"While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety," a statement from the spokesperson read.
According to ABC 7 Chicago, Prince Harry's mom, Princess Diana, was involved in a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997 while she was attempting to escape the paparazzi.
On Monday, a suspect was arrested and charged with stalking at the couple's home.
