Mariah Carey knows how to drive, but legally, she can't. The singer told Jennifer Hudson that she let her driver's license expire during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. She's not a diva, she just can't be bothered to go through the process of getting her license back.

Much of it has to do with where she used to live
"I don't have a license, because I let it expire," she said. "I did have one, and then I left where I was living. I was living in the city and you don't really want to drive in Manhattan. Well, I don't," she explained.
City driving isn't for everyone, and Manhattan is a stressful place to drive for sure.
Getting a new license would be more stress than Mariah is interested in
"And then when I went to go be like, 'OK, my license.' They were like, 'Oh, well it's expired — and expired like seven years ago,'" she admitted, which got laughs from the audience. "So then I was going to have to take the test again."
Her reasoning is relatable honestly
Jennifer Hudson was quick to chime in, saying, "I don't think I'd pass if I took the test again." Carey emphatically agreed, saying, "That's what I'm saying!"
She then shared that she is working on getting a license again. But for now her current arrangement is good.
Mariah can drive, even if she chooses not to, she wants to make that clear
"If there were one street that I could say, 'OK, this is a safe street for me to drive,' I would do that," she shared. "But the thing is, it's just better for me to go with somebody in the car and not drive, but I can drive."
Divas like Mariah Carey don't need to drive themselves anywhere anyway.
