Kim Kardashian Opens Up About the Struggles of Parenting Alone: ‘I Cry Myself to Sleep’

Now that Kim Kardashian has had the chance to settle into life as a single mom to four children after her split from Kanye West, she's opening up about just how hard it can be. In fact, while appearing on a podcast, Kim admitted that she cries herself to sleep after particularly rough days. We've all been there!

She described her parenting situation as "chaos"

While on the "On Purpose With Jay Shetty" podcast, Kim opened up about what it's like raising kids North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4, on her own.

"Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn't be like a more true statement," she said, via People. "So, like, when you're in it, I mean, especially when they're babies and you're feeding … there's madness going on. It's like full madness. It's the best chaos though."

Her kids always need something from her

"It's like I always have to do one of my daughters' hair — and it has to be perfect and it has to be a certain way — and then this one needs me to put his shoes on and they all need you. … It's like full crazy madness, cooking, running around. Like, it's wild," she said.

But at the same time, Kim also said that "parenting is the thing that has taught me the most about myself."

"There are nights I cry myself to sleep. Like, holy shit, this f—ing tornado in my house. Like, what just happened?" she said. "You know, with all the moods and the personalities and sometimes they're fighting, and you know, there's no one there. Like, it's [just] me to play good police officer and bad cop."

But she also called it the most "rewarding job on this planet"

While Kim said that she takes nights with four kids "hour by hour" just to get through it, she also said that rising to that challenge has made her feel very proud of herself.

"It is the most rewarding job in the entire world. It is. There is nothing that can prepare you. … I don't care how long you wait. I don't care what you're waiting for. You are never prepared," she said. "But you will figure it out, and it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out and that you got through the day."

Being a parent isn't easy

And although Kim certainly has resources (including money) that many moms out there don't have access to, when it comes down to it, being there for your kids — especially four of them at once — when things devolve into absolute chaos can be emotionally and mentally challenging.

Still, it sounds like Kim's hanging in there. Her four are lucky to have her!
