Khloé Kardashian had a hard time settling on a name for her second child, and now we're learning more about what was going on behind the scenes during that time. Apparently, her little one was first named Baby Kardashian until she filed paperwork to give him his dad's last name instead.

When Tatum was first born, Khloé hadn't decided on a name
That's not surprising at all to hear, considering everything that had been going on during that time. If you watch The Kardashians on Hulu, you already know that she was still grappling with Tristan Thompson's most recent bout of infidelity, and that made it hard for her to enjoy the birth of her son the way she wanted to.
Originally, she put "Baby Kardashian" on the birth certificate
According to People, Tatum first had Khloé's last name. While parents are welcome to use any last name they want — mom's, dad's, or a combination — whatever they choose is permanent and it requires a court order to be able to change it, which is what Khloé later did.
Later, Khloé filed to change his name
Now her baby boy is Tatum Thompson — what we know him as — and this might explain why it took her so long to reveal the name she'd picked to the public. Maybe (like younger sister Kylie Jenner), it took a bit longer for her to settle on the perfect one and she didn't want to share it so publicly and widely until she was 100% sure.

She originally struggled with bonding with Tatum, but it's gotten better lately
As Khloé shared on her Hulu series, it's been hard bonding with Tatum, who was carried by a gestational surrogate, in the same way she was able to bond with True, whom she carried herself. But now things are finally getting easier for her.
"I wish I wasn't so critical of myself, because I'm very kind to everyone else, I'm just not very kind to myself. But being a mom is truly one of, just the most magical experiences ever," she said on the show.
Here's hoping things only continue to get better from here
Now that she's getting ready to celebrate Tatum's birthday party, we don't doubt that there's plenty of excitement buzzing around in her fam. This may not have been the way she imagined this time in her life would go, but hopefully she'll still be able to make the best of it.
