Joshua Jackson Bought His Childhood Home So His Daughter Could Sleep in His Old Bedroom

It's only been a few years since Joshua Jackson became a celebrity dad, but he's already setting his daughter up for a pretty cool upbringing. In an interview, Joshua revealed he bought his childhood home so that his kid could grow up in the bedroom that once belonged to him as a child. OK, that's pretty awesome.

Joshua bought the house back in 2001

As he explained to Mr. Porter magazine, it's where he lived before his parents divorced, and living in the house in Topanga, CA, has helped him heal.

"My father unfortunately was not a good father or a husband and exited the scene, but that house in Topanga was where everything felt simple, so it was a very healing thing for me to do," he said.

Now his daughter lives in his bedroom, which was mostly left untouched

Joshua said that his childhood bedroom was left how he found it, including the dragon mural on the wall that his now 1-year-old gets to enjoy.

"There was a mural of a dragon on the wall in that room that I couldn't believe was still there, years later," he said. "The owner said, 'I knew it meant a lot to somebody and that they were going to come back for it some day.'"

And that's exactly what happened!

He also opened up about how fatherhood has changed his life

"It's 100 percent changed how I approach my work and my life," he admitted. "That has been made so clear to me in this past year. For me to feel good about what I'm doing day to day, my family has to be the central focus."

The former Dawson's Creek star also said that he's excited about taking his daughter scuba diving and skiing, adding that she's "been a character from the word 'go.'"

Joshua's baby girl was born in 2020

He and wife Jodie Turner-Smith welcomed their daughter in April 2020. Though they haven't shared too many details of their little girl โ€”ย or any photos of her face โ€”ย it's pretty clear that they're both over the moon to be her parents, and they've happily settled into life as a family of three.

We can't wait to find out what the future holds for this family

Our fingers are crossed that whatever it is, it includes Joshua sharing a photo of that dragon mural at some point, because that definitely sounds like something we need to see.

His baby girl doesn't even know how lucky she is yet. One day, she'll realize she's being raised by a former Mighty Duck!
