James Van Der Beek and Wife Celebrate Their ‘Double Rainbow Baby’ Turning 2

James Van Der Beek is having some real feelings about his youngest son, Jeremiah, turning 2. The dad of six took to Instagram to pen a sweet message to the little boy to commemorate the special occasion.

"We were done having kids. We’d 'closed the birth portal,'" he wrote. "And then you came kicking down the door, in your signature style. Because we needed you. And you knew it."

His message conveyed the special place Jeremiah holds in his heart

"Grateful every day for you, bubs," he shared. "You’re a toy-throwing, football-loving little Texas dude, a class A++ snuggler, and getting to experience life from your point of view has made me fall in love with the world in a whole new way."

"I love reading to you. I love watching all your decisions and agendas. And your belly laughs might just be the best thing in the universe," he continued.

James held none of his emotions back

"Thank you for teaching me what it is to live life with unapologetic joy, and hopeful abandon," he said before adding a hilarious conclusion that all parents can understand.

"Can we maybe try sleeping through the night, now? The whole night? Like, ALL the way through? ," he added.

Van Der Beek's wife Kimberly also celebrated her baby boy

In her own Instagram post, Kimberly Van Der Beek paid tribute to the littlest member of their brood.

"Yesterday our double rainbow baby heart opening bubba love turned two," she began her post. "Jeremiah, your magic is continuing to blossom. Every single thing about you melts me. Thanks for choosing us and demanding your entrance into the world. Thank God you persisted. "

Kimberly had suffered two pregnancy losses before Jeremiah's birth

The couple announced Jeremiah's birth on Instagram in November 2021, five weeks after his birth.

"After experiencing late-term #pregnancyloss twice in a row (both at 17+ weeks), we kept this one quiet. Truthfully, I was terrified when I found out," he wrote in the caption. Kimberly had suffered from pregnancy losses in November 2019 and June 2020.

Van Der Beek gave a little insight into his wife's pregnancy, explaining "we found a doctor here in Texas who diagnosed the last two as having been caused by an: 'incompetent cervix.'"

"A simple surgical cerclage was done, removed at full-term, @vanderkimberly gave birth naturally on the ranch… and here we are. The medical books say to only look at a cerclage as an option after three late-term losses. Our doctor recommends considering it after one. Spread the word," he said.

The post was a beautiful tribute to their loss but welcomed their newest addition as well

"Each child brings their own energy, their own manifestation of consciousness, their own lessons. The ones we lost each gifted us with different pieces of the puzzle… leaving us that much more grateful for the ongoing master class we get to enjoy with this sweet, wise little one," he wrote.

"Life is beautiful ❤️," he concluded.
