Hilary Duff is getting personal about her last pregnancy. While appearing on a podcast this week, Hilary admitted she wasn't interested in sex with husband Matthew Koma while she was pregnant with her third child, Mae … and since pregnancy affects everyone so differently, we seriously doubt she's alone in feeling that way.
Hilary said this time, the way she felt during pregnancy was different
Talking to Dr. Elliot Berlin on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast, Hilary opened up about how she felt about getting intimate with her husband during this pregnancy.
"Sex really was not interesting for me at all this time around," she said (via People). "So toward the end, where with Banks that felt like a really helpful-slash-fun tool, this time I was like, 'Nope, not for me.' It annoyed me majorly when people would say, 'You know what really gets things started?' I'm like, 'Nope!' "
The change in Hilary's sex drive made her think she was having a boy
"I thought I was having a boy because with Banks I was totally down, and with this baby, I was like … I don't know if it was maybe having more kids and trying to keep up with everybody that just made it kind of at night feeling exhausted and just really not a ton of time," she said. "I felt like a little more protective of my body this time around."
Like we said, every pregnancy is different — and being a mom of two and pregnant is a lot different than being a mom of one and pregnant. We can't blame Hilary for being tired!
Hilary has been open about how this pregnancy was a bit painful for her
In an Instagram post she shared back in February, Hilary revealed that she was struggling with pregnancy sciatica — shooting pains down her lower back that are caused by a pinched or inflamed nerve. Ouch! We wouldn't be surprised if that contributed to her not being too interested in intimacy, either.
Hilary also shared more details about her home birth on the podcast
According to Hilary, the birth took just over three hours from start to finish and this time, she felt more prepared than she had ever before.
"My head was in the game and I felt a lot more confident in the way that I was birthing than I did before. So I was really trying to be present, and relaxed, and make every contraction work for me," she said.
Then baby Mae was born, and she and Matthew are officially part of a family of five.
Good for Hilary for being so candid about her pregnancy experience
Certain topics (including sex during pregnancy) are still more taboo than they should be, so it's good to hear Hilary speaking from her own experiences so publicly like this. We're sure she's glad to have this pregnancy and her back pain behind her. There's no relief than realizing it's possible to take a deep breath again after giving birth!
