It's not easy to co-parent with a partner's ex, but Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young is getting it done. In a new interview, Heather and husband Tarek El Moussa opened up about what it's like to raise kids alongside Christina Haack and her new husband, Joshua Hall.
Tarek and Christina share two children from their previous marriage
Before the former Flip or Flop stars went their separate ways in 2016, Tarek and Christina welcomed two children: their 11-year-old daughter, Taylor, and their 6-year-old son, Brayden. Since then, they haven't always seen eye to eye (sometimes, their drama is a little public), but it sounds like they're finding a way to make it all work.
The couple tries to focus only on what goes on in their home
"Honestly, you know, we really focus on our household," Tarek told Us Weekly. "[Heather and I] have certain things we do at our household, and I know [Christina] focuses on her household and there’s certain things she does at her household."
Controlling only what they can control is a pretty solid method.
Heather has also spoken out about their co-parenting relationship
In a previous interview, Heather, who is now Taylor and Brayden's stepmom, told the magazine, "We co-parent very well together. We communicate daily about the kids, and they’re the most important thing in the world to all of us. So, as long as the kids are happy, we’re all happy."
It sounds like they're handling things as well as they can!
They have limited communication with Christina and Joshua, though
It's not like they're all buddy-buddy — they're just making it work.
"[We’re] only around him every once in a while, you know, [at] soccer and that’s mainly it," Tarek said. "We say our ‘hi’s,' and we have a few group texts going and that’s about it."
Being cordial with Christina and Joshua, who tied the knot last month, isn't a bad thing if it means less drama for their kids.
They seem to have found a way to make the situation work for everyone
Though it certainly can't be easy at times, hopefully things will only get better as they all have more practice working together for the common goal of caring for the kids they love.
And in the meantime, we'll just keep missing Flip or Flop. Whether or not Christina and Tarek were still together, it was a good show!
