Daniel Radcliffe Is Gushing Over His Newborn Son, Feels ‘Very Lucky’

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Harry Potter is all grown up, but he really is! Daniel Radcliffe and his longtime girlfriend Erin Darke welcomed their first child together back in April.

"We’ve moved into a less screaming phase," Radcliffe told Extra in an interview ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

"He’s very cute," Daniel said of his baby boy, whose name hasn't been revealed.

He also shared now that they're moving past the newborn screaming phase, "he’s now giving us little smiles and giggling."

"It’s been a crazy few months, as anyone who’s been through parenthood would attest," he continued. "But it’s also the literal best thing that’s ever happened, so it’s great."

Daniel was doing the interview to promote his show Miracle Workers alongside costar Steve Buscemi. Steve quipped that he couldn't remember what those early days of parenthood were like now that his son is an adult. He also commended Daniel and Erin for taking the time to really be present parents for their son during these early days.

"I feel very lucky to be able to have this time with him. It’s awesome," Daniel replied.

Back in October 2022, Daniel shared that he thought film sets "can be wonderful" places for kids based on his Harry Potter experiences.

"I want my kids, if and when they exist … I would love them to be around film sets," he told Newsweek.

"A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew.' Some part of this, but not from that" he said at the time.

Because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Daniel and Erin will likely get more time with their little one than either imagined. But it seems that he's really just trying to enjoy this phase of his life.

"I've got a really nice life. I've been with my girlfriend for a decade pretty much," he told People.

"We're really happy."

And we're really happy for him!
